Dragnet's Worst Criminal Scumbags

My nominations are:

1- Mister Daniel Lumis (John Hudson) (Burglary: Mister)

Mister Lumis stole from everyone and had absolutely no remorse. He even stole a blind woman's cane, the $30 she had saved in a cookie jar, and he even stole the cookie jar!

2 - Donna Halpern (Michele Grumet) (Juvenile: DR:35)

Donna left her newborn baby in a trash can. When caught, she kept insisting that Joe tell her what he thought of her. She wasn't interested in what Bill thought of her, for some reason.

3 - Evelyn Gentry (Julie Bennett) (Burglary: Helpful Woman)

Evelyn knocked on the doors of elderly people, telling them she was a domestic who had been sent to the wrong address. She insisted on cleaning up their house a bit, and then stole them blind. Bill caught her by going undercover as a senior citizen. And he did it without changing his appearance at all!

Walter Marshall from the Little Victim - beats his infant son gets a year in jail and then gets out and then beats him to death.

Agree, no one can beat Mr. Daniel Lumis. Unlike all the other major criminals, he is not an obvious twitchy psycho. Just a completely amoral creep who even other criminals would not touch. Except maybe to get him after he ripped them off. Even hardened veteran Gannon says halfway through ' this guy Lumis can't be real, Joe!'. Such a violator of every basic norm of human behaviour.

I have shown this to a couple of people, they find it hard to believe too. I wonder what real case this was based on?

Maybe the snobs who think Dragnet is a "sitcom" should read this entire thread before they pass pompous judgment on the series--unless they were cheering "their side"!

The episode - The Hit-and-Run Driver. The driver has two or three prior DUI'S so he drives over and kills two elderly people. He didn't care and told Friday that they didn't have much more time to live anyway. A real scumbag.

I thought the two scum-sucking dognappers were losers. Who asked for a reward when they return a dog or cat? Only losers.
