Where does the Peanuts gang live?

All these years and I'm not sure where the Peanuts gang lives.

I've always assumed it was someplace like upstate New York in a semi-rural community of middle-middle-class residents. I assumed New York because decades ago I watched Charlie Brown attend a spelling bee in New York City and he remarked that he was taking a bus trip of several hours to New York. So that meant it couldn't have been in the Midwest.

Does anyone know for sure?

They don't.

It's a comic strip, there is no 'gang', there are only individuals, and they do not live, as they are fictional characters.

If you really want, you can say 'they live in people's hearts', but that sounds about as stupid as your question, no offence.
