I agree that the OP is simply trolling, but as I'm watching this for the first time, right now, the defenders of it's position on the Top Movies isn't quite there for me yet. I'm definitely digging the direction that this is going, but so far, Play Misty for Me is still my favorite CE flick. I own almost 700 movies and this, so far, is the 1966 version of what you guys keep lambasting others for liking. Especially the people that have been rude, regarding Tarantino's movies. The tough characters, the over-the-top violence that isn't something that can happen in our physics, the tender, yet macho dialogue, the attention paid to emotion, the bonding bounty hunter thing. And I get it. Leone did it first. But in fiction, there are only some many different types of antagonist and protagonist pairings, available.
Granted, this appears to be way ahead of it's time. But it's a not exactly the polar opposite of Transformers. In fact, it seems like the opposite of pretentious Fredrico Fellini films or sexed-up, action exploitation flicks that started to emerge around the mid-60's ala Roger Corman.
I can see how so many films and directors have given homage to this movie though. Everyone from QT to the character, El Guapo, in The Three Amigos. So far, I couldn't rank it on a Western best of... as I have only seen a handful of them, but as I'm not done with it, I would firmly place it in the top 30 of 250. I'm sure my opinion may change, as opinions should alway be static, not part of a vacuum. I can also see how, with the evolution of film, one might pass this up for, say, Tombstone or walk the by The Godfather for Goodfellas. Please understand that it all still is a matter of preference.
Sorry if I got you all angry. I tend to like genres and directors and writers or original authors. Christ, I love Phillip K. Dick, but even though the critics herald Blade Runner as his best story and adaptation, you can give me The Adjustment Bureau, in regards to story and film companion pretty much every day of the week.
Good day, folks, and I'm sure I'll hear from you all soon, I only got about 75 minutes left on this and would be happy to LOVE this movie like you all, but 50 years later, a lot of its characters seem to be over the top, not unlike a lot of it's Chinese counterparts.
There is NO such thing as magic and love is dead.
