OBTAINING COPY OF THE LOVED ONE

I HAVE SPENT THE LAST FIVE YEARS LOOKING FOR A DVD COPY OF THE LOVED ONE. ANYBODY KNOW OF ONE? FAILING THAT, A GOOD VIDEO COPY WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE. WILL PAY A GOOD (NOT EXORBITANT!!) PRICE FOR IT..

You won't find a DVD, it's supposed to be done this year, but your best bet is the Laserdisc of TLO. The picture quality on the LD is AWESOME, as compared to the VHS which is much darker. Ebay has Laserdiscs occasionally- usually for about $50 bucks,(and that's right around the price of a used $1300.00 Laserdisc player-)

I also searched for years for this classic. I ended up getting in in VHS format on eBay - there is one out there now for $35

We just got one on ebay for about $10. It's VHS and the quality (and price) is clearly the result of this being a pirated copy.

Even so, as someone else has said, this is up there with "Strangelove." If it comes out in DVD, I will be first in line. Meanwhile, there are worse ways to blow $10, even if it is a truly poor vhs version.

It runs on TCM every so often, which is the first place I saw it. A nice widescreen print. Check their schedule and make yourself a nice SP video or DVD-R until someone wises up and puts this classic out officially.

Try videohelp.com they should have some methods of extraction. I recorded it straight to a DVD-R and it looks beautiful. Hopefully Warner Bros. decides to release this awesome film on DVD.

Turner Classic Movies ran "The Loved One" last evening. My Tivo copied it for me. I assume that it will play again soon on TCM.

IMDB had it for sale on VHS up until a couple years ago....at least, I seem to remember that.

"The Loved One" will be shown on TCM at 4:30 PM (EDT) on Thursday, July 26, 2012.
