Is this really the best Bond movie of all time?

I hear that this movie is often considered to the best of the series, for both Sean Connery and the Bond series in general. Now granted, the movie did had its moments, like the awesome opening theme, the dialogue (No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die) or the action scenes. But what about From Russia with Love or Thunderball? Or other movies that come close to rivaling Goldfinger, like The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, The Living Daylights, GoldenEye, Casino Royale, or Skyfall?

From Russia With Love is good but my favorite one was Dr No

No. The first three Bonds in the most successful film series of all the time are the best, and From Russia With Love is, on balance, the best. The deciding vote is Robert Shaw as the Q-ship “00”agent in a brutal gutpunch dustup with Bond on the train, let alone Rosa Klebb as being by far SPECTER’s ONLY believable agent who, in fact, killed Bond in the Fleming source novel.

And I LOVE Goldfinger. The Aston-Martin DB5. “No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!” With all that and more, R_Kane takes From Russia, With Love, and I don’t look back.

I think the best Bond movies hit the zeitgeist at exactly the right moment in time. My top 4:
4. Moonraker(1979) - It was over the top but everything worked perfectly.
3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service(1969) - It really was time for a new Bond, Sean Connery had become a bloated shell of his former self, maybe too many shaken martini's and steaks. George Lazenby didn't have the charm but he brought a breath of fresh air to an exciting story with Tracy and Blofeld stealing the show.
2. From Russia With Love(1963) - Many consider this the best bond ever and I would be hard pressed to argue with them, back when Connery was on top of the world and Bond movies were seen by everyone.
1. Casino Royale(2006) - Finally, a new Bond that really exceeded all expectations. Daniel Craig was fantastic in his Bond debut, the cold opening alone certainly makes the movie worth watching. This is one of the few Bond movies that seems to be on everybody's top 5 list.

It is. Nothing else even comes close, but there are other Bond movies I like.

ONMSS is my fav by far. Goldfinger was entertaining (especially the golf scene) but had too much nonsense.

It's not that great. It gets a lot of love for being the first film in the series to establish the formula, but it's actually my least favourite Connery Bond film overall. Thunderball is really when the series hit its stride.

I found everything quite boring after they arrive in America, and I didn't really like the attack on Fort Knox scenes. Goldfinger getting sucked out of the airplane window is also pretty dumb.

The awesome soundtrack makes this my favorite.

It's the best Connery Bond movie, but Casino Royale is still the best Bond movie overall.
