So Nice to Have a Spouse Around the House

I call it one of the classic episodes. Just watched it the other day and there's quite a level of sophistication to it. But as a child, I didn't get most of it! I just couldn't understand why the second honeymoon aspect of it upset Serena. ha ha!

She tells Endora that a contrite Darrin wants "to go for a ride". Endora says that she has no idea what that meant.
Serena then says, "He wants to make up."

Endora looks grim and says, "I know what THAT means!"

Well I didn't when I was a kid. It's amazing how a show aimed at a young audience could handle an adult topic in such an innocent way.

As for Darrin, he DID act like an overbearing ,bossy jerk at the start. HE was going away for the day to play golf but he expected Sam to be the "obedient little wife" and sit home alone. Did he realize that she didn't even HAVE to tell him where she was going? She could have just gotten a sitter and left while Darrin was at the golf course.

It's nice that Darrin felt guilty and owned up to his boorish, bossy behavior.
David White was great as usual dispensing Larry Tate's unique form of wisdom. "What can't be done in a weekend isn't worth doing." Well, as he said, he did have "twenty years in the loser's circle".

Great episode, so I'm even going to overlook the fact that in the premier episode they didn't stay at Moon thatch Inn. Sam and Darrin were clearly staying in a big hotel. Of course, they could have just spent one night there and driven out the next day to spend the rest of their honeymoon at Moon Thatch Inn.
