Shelly Winters....

I detest her in every movie I've ever seen her in. That said, I guess it's a testament to her acting skills. Perhaps, in reality, she wasn't nearly as annoying.

The only character I enjoyed of Ms. Winters, was Roseanne and Jackie's grandmother on Roseanne.
Her characters were almost always written as a whiny, clingy and desperate woman. I consider myself a big hearted individual, but I actually cheered when she went overboard in A Place In The Sun!

She's particularly good in Lolita as well as Alfie (1966) and Next Stop Greenwich Village (1975). She should have gotten an Oscar nod for Lolita.

She never has to act . If you see her on talk shows she's just as annoying as Lolita's mother .

You must see her in Scalphunters. Excellent and funny character. Not needy but desperate to flee to Mexico with group of bad guys. Feisty and full of life. Her last line in the movie is one of my all-time favorites.
