Vivien was GREAT ..Warren Beatty should have been replaced

Vivien was great in this film. I thought that Warren Beatty was just awful. He only got the part because his sister was Shirley M. There were so many young guys who would have been much better choices. Even Tony Dow or Frankie Avalon would have been more macho as the young street trick..... Watch the film again , Beatty was just terrible. I think they should have replaced him early on...just no talent at all.........

Well, Frankie Avalon had 7 or 8 kids, so he certainly had the virility, even though he was a little guy. I don't think he'd match up well with Vivien Leigh.

As for Tony Dow, is tha the kid from "Leave it to Beaver." I can't see him either. He's kind of on the ugly side.

I thought Beatty was pretty good. He certainly looked the part. He appeared in "Splendor in the Grass" with Natalie Wood, so he has the track record of romancing good looking actresses in films.

I think your chouces are putrid. You gotta come up with better studs.

I don't think Beatty was THAT terrible, he wasn't great... but played the part of detached gigolo sufficiently, imo.

Vivien Leigh however was brilliant! She's great in this sort of tragic roles, as also seen in "Streetcar Named Desire" - which is one of the best performances I've ever seen.
