The absence of visitors from future means time travel not possible?

Does the fact that we still haven't been visited by anyone from the future anytime in the past or present prove that time travel is simply not possible?

Only about a third of the people who attended the original event are from 1969. The rest are time travellers from the future who disguised themselves as hippies and zipped back in time to see the show live!

Same with the Civil War. Only a few thousand men from the 1860's actually participated, the rest are re-enactors from the future who wanted to see the real thing.

A lot of time travellers are around us all the time. Ever see "Idiocracy"? It's true. By selective breeding the future is full of morons. They travel back to this time all the time. Why do you think Honey Boo Boo and Swamp People are so popular? How do you think Obama got re-elected? Who really likes Lady Gaga? Time travelling morons from the future!

I have always thought the argument "nobody from the future ever visiting us now proves time travel is not possible" is a devastating rebuttal of time travel into the past until I saw something a year ago on TV. A scientist argued that it is possible for a future time traveller to traverse into the past but only for the period immediately following the time machine invention. Eg, say the time machine was invented in the year 2,309 then a time traveller from the year 3,429 could travel into the past for period covering 2,309 - 3,429 only.

The Scientist argued that the invention of the time machine would create a sort of worm hole that only allowed past travelling via the worm hole which thus precludes any earlier times as the worm hole hadn't yet come into existence. All theoretical of course but this hypothesis helped me see a different point of view.

That's a popular current theory, but it's just a theory like any other. One would actually have to travel through time to figure it out.

Requiescat in pace, Krystle Papile. I'll always miss you.

And again, how do we know for sure that there aren't time travelers walking around among us right now?

Maybe Leonardo DaVinci was a time traveler from the future stuck in a distant past which lacked the technology to make his inventions a reality. How would you build an airplane or helicopter let alone a time machine in an age without electricity nor even petroleum based fuels?

Absurdity: A Statement or belief inconsistent with my opinion.

Also, they may have stealth technology, that keeps us from seeing them.......Or they may blend in so that you never knew they were here...Perhaps even something like a deer blind...

Except they screw up sometimes, hence all the UFO sightings, alien abductions and other conspiricy theories that are supposed to go on.

a time machine would be first of all the ultimate weapon. it enables retaliation before the event that caused it. upon which an even sooner retaliation happens. and on and on goes the cycle, until the war started at the beginning of time itself.

that is, if the past can be changed.

if not, well, then any travelers from the future that might have visited us, kept a low enough profile. maybe they only observed, maybe they gave a few people hints as to what would happen if they'd -not- do the things that are now in the history books.

an example could be contacting roosevelt before WW2 and telling him to start the manhatten project.

things like "time machines can travel back in time, but no further than their invention/construction, are merely attempts at explaining why there is no evidence of time travel around, if time travel is possible.

We may have people from the future visiting us all the time. And we have people who know this and are trying to warn us. But we don't see or hear from them because they are all in mental institutions.

Fact? But I'm here!

Any further questions?

I really like the time traveler theory for explaining ufos. Not that I don't think some are actually from other worlds; why not. But they could also be scientists from our own future. It's a very cool idea, at least, and there's no reason to discredit it.

We are visited all the time. However, they don't think we're worth having a dialogue with, so the visit, look around, and leave.

How do you know we havenĀ“t had any visitors from the future? Would they be on "Time Traveller Rehab" or something?
