Cat Watches Psycho

Ha. The scene in question is a reminder of how "revved up" the climax of Psycho is....without a drop of blood, the movie at this point (with original audiences and at a screening I attended), creates MASSIVE screams, as Hitchcock accelerates the action on screen (the quick POV of Norman running up the hill seen from the window; how he opens the door a SECOND behind Lila hiding under the stairs) and brings Lila ever closer to a "face to face" meeting with Mrs. Bates. When Lila stops - just when she COULD escape the house(Norman is upstairs) and instead looks at the that door to the fruit cellar, just the shot of the DOOR caused screams and when Lila moved to the door -- BIGGER screams.

That cat had every right to take off!
