Something that people who reboot "TZ" never seem to grasp
The eerie black and white cinematography is as much a part of "TZ"'s identity as Serling, the theme music and the timeless tales of the uncanny.

sharei concur... would love to see more new black & white movies...
shareI agree. Plus I think a modern show being black and white would add something unique to draw viewers.
shareTwilight Zone remakes have all been mediocre. It really should just be left alone at this point. Many of the things that made the show great were unique to the 50's.
shareNeil deGrasse on why "TZ" worked best in black and white: "Exploiting the mystery and suspense of shifting people and objects in and out of shadows, the directors clearly knew the cinematic value of light and darkness on film."

Precisely. There is only one TZ.
😎
So many disparaging remarks these days along the lines of, "Serling's genius was in creating the format". While I think success did go to his head and not everything he did was Pure Gold, there's still a good reason why everything that has appeared with the "Twilight Zone" brand on it after June 28, 1975 has been instantly forgettable. If Rod's fingerprints are not on it, it's just a mediocre imitation/counterfeit attempting to be something it's not.
Original TZ episodes were mainly 30 minutes, even less taking into account commercials, but you never felt out of time or rushed. He built characters and worlds that were so complete, it felt like a movie. It was short story telling perfection.
