What rating did you give for Vertigo?
I gave it a 10/10. It's the only Hitchcock film I've given a perfect rating because I really love the film. It's in my top 5 favourite films of all time. How about you?

share9/10. But maybe a 10 is called for. I'll have to rewatch it.
"Did you make coffee...? Make it!"--Cheyenne.
10/10 for me as well.
"Life after death is as improbable as sex after marriage"- Madeline Kahn(CLUE, 1985)
10/10. It's my number one Hitchcock film and naturally one of my all-time favorite films.
Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!
10/10.
"Rock and Roll's been going downhill ever since Buddy Holly died"-American Graffiti
I agree with you, it's my favourite Hitchcock, and one of my all time favourites.
share10/10; the best film ever made.
"You know, men could do that in those days.
They had the power, the freedom."
You are overdoing it, sorry! - It is a 10 for me, too. But best film ever made? That made me gasp. It has serious qualities, at least to give it a 10. It is a movie in the real sense of the word. Yes. But a movie with that many plot holes, and some scenes actually 'overcooked', I would think there is better stuff for this attribute.
Though that's only my opinion, of course!
Cinematography, atmosphere, music, acting. Subject matter: Fear of figurative and literal death, romantic obsession. It uses more than narrative to convey its essence, so "plot holes" aren't a significant factor in it's worth. Of course, there is an element of subjectivity in any film rating, and we always bring ourselves to the table.
"You know, men could do that in those days.
They had the power and the freedom."
0, so boring.
share10 for music, 10 for craftsmanship (sets, photography, acting), 1 for plot credibility (script)...so averages about a 6 in my book..
I stand by my earlier rating because of the dumb improbable plot, botched premature revelation that ruins everything, and inconclusive ending...could have been much better...what BS..but great score, photography etc...extremely excessively artistic...way over the top !
