It is impossible to pick 5. There are at least 500 that I would take to a desert island. I know that's NOT the question here. Like many of your here, I have divergent tastes.
Many of your choices so far are also mine. Some of your choices are merely stageplays transferred to the screen. I think that movies which could ONLY be made on the silver screen should qualify as movies, as such. For example, I challenge anyone to put 2001 A Space Odyssey on the stage...but 12 Angry Men...unarguably a great film...is still only a stage play transferred to the screen. In fact it was a teleplay first.
By the way, I am so glad to see that no one chose The Godfather movies. Completely overrated.
