Do you think Marlon was hot in Streetcar?

Somebody posted on this board that they challenge any woman to watch Streetcar and not think Marlon was sexy. Well my mother did and she didn't find him sexy. I don't agree with her but there you go. No matter how hot somebody is you can't please everybody.

It is obvious that Marlon had something about him. This was the film that launched his career afterall.

One of the points of the story of Streetcar is that Stella puts up with being in an abusive marriage because she is so attracted to Stanley that she can't leave him no matter how he treats her.

I wouldn't say Marlon Brando is the hottest guy I've ever seen, but in this movie, his character is one of the best looking men I have ever ever seen in my life. If i had a time machine...

I thought that you might have, some advise to give, on how to be, insensitive.

Gotcha!

reply

Yeah....he was stunningly gorgeous in this movie!!
I didn't really expect that because the only other things I had really seen him in was "The Godfather" and "Don Juan de Marco" so yeah...I saw this and did a double take, and then I think I started to drool a little.

Absolutely yes. He was incredibly sexy in this movie.

I first saw this in school when I was 17 and I was so drawn to his brutish, passionate and cavema-like sexiness.

reply

He is the epitome of hotness in Streetcar, for sure.

Oh yeah and according to Kazan women were throwing themselves at him left, right and centre and he certainly did not refuse them!

reply

[deleted]

Possibly the hottest ever.

Hehe oh yes I definitely saw "Don Juan de Marco" for that Mr. Depp....he was so beautiful in that! I haven't seen it in a really long time, but I remember really liking Marlon Brando's character in it. I need to watch it again!!

reply

yeah, Johnny depp with a Spanish accent, who could resist! You really do need to watch it again, dont deny yourself! : )

I am a man and think that Brando oozes sex in this movie.

It is a very animal-like sexuality though, and if your Mum is a little reserved and somewhat afraid of recognising a base type of sexuality that confronts her parlour-style concept of sexual expression, then I can understand why she is not enthralled by Brando in this film.

On your last point remember that Stella is a complex character and like many women, perhaps only knows abusive relationships. There are many other reasons why Stella is attracted to Stanley not only because of his sexual magnetic attraction. Next time you watch the movie try to get in the head of Stella instead of spending energy trying to deny the base sexual attraction that you and your Mum feel for Brando.

Do not be ashamed that you are both attracted to the beautiful and the raw, express your inner Stanley!!

Yes, very much so... even though his character was an ass. :)

Marlon Brando was totally smokin' hot sexy in this movie. A cruel, ignorant man? Yes. A rapist? Yes. But there's no denying his physical attractiveness--it's one of the aspects of the film that holds everything together.

reply

Hard to deny the hotness, especially when he takes off his shirt!

However, when he started hitting Stella, the hotness turned OFF pretty quick.

I definitely thought he was sexy! Physically, most definitely! (Love the muscles!)

The only part when I didn't as much was the scene where Stanley & Stella were rifling through Blanche's possessions, and that was because Brando was eating something while he said his lines?! (Compared to the same scene I saw once with Christopher Walken & Susan Sarandon as Stanley & Stella, Walken beat Brando hands down...mainly because Walken wasn't eating something and thus was able to enunciate his lines far better than Brando did. That I found sexier. )

Marlon was drop-dead gorgeous in this film. He was an excellent actor and I had no clue of how gorgeous he was as a young man. He was amazing in The Godfather and Apocalypse Now as well. Terrific actor with great looks!

reply

I'm watching this movie right now. As soon as Marlon Brando appeared, I lost it. He was so good looking! His eyes, his body, everything! I can't get over it. And he was a great actor, of course. But man! He was HOT! (and I don't use that word often, I never use that word)
