greatest film ever made
I recently watched this film and I consider it to be the best film ever made. I cried the whole way through. This is an amazing film with the most heroic cast of characters of all time. Does anyone agree?

shareYes. I put this film far above "Gone With the Wind" It is more moving and moves us without a lot of unecessary mellodrama (rising music, ect). It is better directed.
shareA few years ago I had a hospital stay and my room-mate was a lady of eighty. She couldn't get over how much I enjoyed movies ( I would have been lost without the rented tv ). This lady preferred books but she did recall one movie as being quite exceptional and wondered if I had ever heard of the movie version of HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY. Well, I told her that for someone who didn't particularly care for movies she certainly picked a dandy for her favourite.
shareThis movie is one of my favorites. I love it!
shareI'm a crusty, worn-out middle-aged old fart who is not touchy-feely and is misanthropic to a fault. I couldn't sleep when I got in from work Monday night, so I grabbed this film, which was near at hand.
I hadn't watched it in years, so I guess I'd forgotten the emotional kick it exudes. Maybe I was also overtaken by nostalgia for my own lost childhood (which, I assure you, had NOTHING to do with Wales or mining), but by the end I was curled up in a fetal position on the couch, alternately wiping tears from my cheeks and blowing my nose. Although I wouldn't put this over CITIZEN KANE, MALTESE FALCON or even MEET JOHN DOE, as far as technical achievement, it grabs me in a way that none of them does. Maybe that's what the Academy saw.

It's a multi-hanky weeper and has many good things about it but oh my there are many others I would consider greater.
shareJust saw it for the first time on Fox Movies and I found it to be a wonderful film. I think the more experienced you are, the more you will be moved by it. Anyone that has lost a loved one knows the depth and richness this film delivers.
shareThis movie was and is better then every Oscar winner this century (save LOTR Return of the King). So, why are people complaining?

Just saw this film, I loved it!
sharePeople need to separate "their favourite film" or "the films they love" from "the best films". Just because they love a film does not mean it is the best quality film. I have two separate lists for what I rate as the best films and what I rate as my favourite films. Why can't people on this site realize the different. This film is probably 7.5 or 8/10 NOT the best film of all time. Get serious!!
