I thought this was better than The Searchers.

I watched both of them today, back to back. The acting in the Searchers was atrocious. this one had much better acting, much better dialogue, and much better characterization. the characters were more in-depth, thereby making the plot more interesting. I would give this 9/10, whereas the searchers I would only give 7/10. I dont know if the bad acting in the Searchers was a result of 1950's cinema or what.

Love Stagecoach, but I think The Searchers is the better film. But then, I think it is one of the best. Stagecoach, as ground breaking as it was for action movies, is still rather staged. the Searchers takes the possibilities of cinema to other levels. And I don't believe this is about brat directors referencing the movie. My 10 year old son enjoyed Stagecoach, but he was blown away by The Searchers. Still, it is difficult to compare the teo film as, aside from being Westerns, they are quite different in terms of themes, dimension, scope and character.
