7.4 Billion dollar box office

Adjusted for inflation. Will anything ever top this?

reply

No. Not in our lifetime, probably not ever. But, box office be damned: I don’t think it’s possible to make a better movie than this. As good as, yes; but not better. Some works of art are simply at the pinnacle of human achievement, such as Michaelangelo’s Pieta, da Vinci’s La Giocanda and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Does Gone With the Wind espouse social mores now held in contempt? It does, and, frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.

LOL, well said.

Thank you, my friend.

I am amazed at your passionate words since on most of your posts you affect a hypermasculine machismo, too much of a man to cry about anything, and yet here you champion the girliest movie ever made! You have taught me, brother, never to judge a book by its cover.

I see that you deleted your post, so we'll never know who you were, but if you ever come back this way again please explain to me (and everyone else here) how this is the girliest movie ever made?

reply

There was nothing on TV back then, and Technicolor talkies were bleeding edge tech!

reply

Avengers Endgame was the most talked about piece of pop culture and still didn't even make half of that.

reply

Adjusted for inflation, the figure is around 3.8 billion actually

Avatar 2 will beat everything for sure. 😜

reply

Not sure if I've seen it????

I remember Carol Burnett wearing a window curtain in the parody skit.
Damn that was funny. Love her.

reply

If you saw it, you'd remember it. Epic.

reply

Then I need to watch it.

Thanks.
