Basil Rathbone

I love this movie with a passion for so many reasons, and I was just wondering is there anybody else who also really enjoyed Basil Rathbone's performance as Sir Guy of Gisborne? I loved how they made Sir Guy haughty, suave and charismatic,(in my opinion that is) and I thought Rathbone did a great job.

Anyone else feel the same?

They say a movie hero is only as good as his villain. With Basil Rathbone, the hero always fought the best villain possible. :)

Never saw Rathbone do ANYTHING that wasn't spot on brilliant. The man was one of a kind.

How can anybody not like Basil Rathbone in anything! He always gives each role 110%. He is as believable as Guy of Gisbourne and Captain Pasquale (The Mark Of Zorro) as his is as Sherlock Holmes. An expert fencer definitely adds to his performance. He is reported as saying that the only person he has fought who could fence Errol Flynn into a corner was Tyrone Power (Zorro).

The Adventures of Robin Hood is my most favorite Errol Flynn movie and Basil Rathbone my favorite actor during that same era 1930s-1950.

In particular, I've always especially loved the "Sherlock Holmes" TV series starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, along with its amazingly talented character actors of the day.

Yes, Rathbone's performance as "Sir Guy" was totally outstanding as usual and often upstaged his fellow actors throughout the movie all of whom were equally sensational.

Isn't it a real shame Hollywood no longer has the ability to produce movies of this quality and caliber anymore? Hollywood was at its peak and pinnacle when movie stars were under (rather than absurdly) overpaid.

We had a prefect at our school who took his job too seriously. Basil Rathbone's Sir Guy or Gisburn reminds me of this prefect. Great performance.
