Crawford's Movie or Garbo's Movie

Which one of these remarkable actresses do you think of first, when you think about this picture?

For me, it's Crawford's movie. She has much more to do in this movie, and gets to interact with more interesting characters (Beery, both Barrymores, etc...)than Garbo does.

What do you think...?

Joan Crawford is at her all time best in this film -- I think she never realized that throughout the rest of her career. Garbo stinks...always does. Most overrated actress in history.

Crawford did a much better acting job, while Garbo seemed overly histrionic/stagy in her performance.

Garbo and it's not even debatable. Garbo's famous line is instantly recognisable and people usually think of Garbo when they think of this film. Nobody got time for some former porn star.

Joan Crawford. I am a Greta Garbo fan but I think she overacts in this film. I loved Crawford's scenes with both John and Lionel.

Crawford by a mile. I'm sold on both acrtress from way back. A bias toward Joan here is inevitably infulunced by her character being much more likeable than Garbo's. The diva was one of those self-absorbed nut cases that any experienced and prudent man would avoid at all costs, whereas the "little stenographer" was a fetching and willing lass with a heart of gold beneath her cynical gold-digger exterior.
