Did they actually kill a cow to make this film???

I read about this film in Film Studies, and discovered that they used a cow for the eye slitting scene. I thought "How fvcking sadistic can you be???". Did they actually kill a cow to make this scene? Does anyone know?

Remember, remember the fifth of November

What is the big problem anyway? The family of the dead animal star was well cared for because of the money this animal made for having its eye filleted on screen. Would you prefer one animal mutilated and eaten or its whole family? Look into it further and you'll see the animal in question was of Jewish persuasion and from Poland. The money from this movie was sent back to Poland and allowed all of the family to emigrate to America in 1938 and gave them opportunity to escape Hitler's atrocities.

Sometimes killing/mutilating/abusing an animal can save a family and is therefore morally correct.
If anything, there should be more dead animals for films, including dead humans. Many would volunteer and it would present opportunities for the unfortunates who may never make it out of their particular hellholes otherwise.

Well, maybe they killed the cow for meat. And then it was France. So in France, they eat cow eyeballs and cow brains and all that. So maybe there was a cow head. And it was from the dead cow killed for eating. And after the movie, they ate the rest of the head. As well as the cow meat.

Just maybe.

But maybe not. It was a long time ago. Before that big War when they killed millions of people and there would have been people eyes to cut open in front of camerae. Maybe animal lovers need to be more vocal. About not killing humans. Because they are merely animals. Fer sher.
