Do you consider Orlok an original character or a variation of Dracula?

I know that this site links him to the Dracula character page. A number of Nosferatu prints, and even the 1979 remake, refer to the cast by the names of Bram Stoker's characters. At the story's very conception, the film was advertised as being suggested by the Stoker novel. Yet, I can't help but think of Graf Orlok as his own character. The differences between he and Dracula (the vampire of the novel, not the caricature frequently found in cinema) may be subtle, but they do exist.

I consider it an original character inspired by Dracula. He's completely different and his legacy also is.

Nosferatu is a vampire Nazi

Fun fact: The family of Bram Stoker successfully sued the producers of this film for copyright infringement.
They saw how this film pretty much copied the story of Dracula.
They may have changed the names of the characters and the location of London for some place in Germany.
But pretty much it was a similar story.
