The key word being seem. Most of us respect guns and like our rights. Nothing unhealthy or obsessive about it.

We also have obsessive/unhealthy relationships with free speech and freedom of religion. We call it "the constitution."

The usa was won from British enslavement because of guns and our unparalleled will. Other countries will never understand. And with guns the numbers don't bear it out. It is media hype 10000000%. Per capita we have nowhere near the gun violence of many other countries yet believing the media you would think it is the wild west every waking minute here. More people die from eating crap like McDonalds every day than guns yet nobody wants to ban a happy meal. Texting and driving kills more people yet not one word about taking phones away. It is all about perspective, and one of the main reasons our country has never faced tyrrany or a coupe is because we are a well armed citizenry in accordance with our intended constitution. Again, other countries wouldnt understand and most of us dont care if you do. School shootings are terrible but kneejerk reactions dont solve the problems. Vastly improved mental health funding, strictly enforcing laws already on the books and increased funding for low income opportunities like back-to-work programs would solve far more violence than liberals with zero firearms knowledge villifying specific firearms. For the most part it is media hype and part tax grab excuse. Any further laws and burden are meant to pad the liberals never ending quest to find reasons for yet more taxes and fine revenue.
