John Boyega blames racism once again.

He makes it sound like he was supposed to be a lead and is now some obscure side character.

I thought the point was to do "colorblind" casting? So now supporting characters should get more screentime just because they're black? A bummer if your character gets pushed to the side, but let's keep race out of it for once.

You didn't misconstrue anything, ignore the fools saying otherwise.

reply

He was contracted for 3 movies and paid for three movies. Contracts dont say anything about character development, screen time etc.

Boyega did well to get what he did considering he had little experience prior to SW.

And he's from a working class background. His family grew up in the town I live in.

But if he keeps this up he could make himself unemployable.

reply

And what's worse is how he brings up Oscar Isaac and Kelly Marie Tran being victims of hate. Let them speak for themselves. Is he forgetting how many threats Rian Johnson had? He really wants this to be a "white man = bad" problem.

reply

He also seems to have forgotten how much hate Daisy Ridley and her character got.

reply

I did notice that his character took a MAJOR step back, but I don't think race is the reason. I feel like he wanted the narrative of a LEADING BLACK STAR WARS CHARACTER and if that didn't happen, then that must be because of RACISM.

Truth be told, he wasn't leading man material, and that was more with his character and dialogue in my opinion. They'd painted him into a corner and there wasn't really anywhere to go with his character.

So no, not racism.

reply

Once they started bringing up Luke in the series, he was in the movie less. Daisy Ridley was sent to find him and learned from him, so it would only make sense that she became the true lead of the movie. I think Boyega's performance was fine in the films, but Daisy Ridley has so much more charisma.

Black Privilege = The ability to use the racism card when you don't get your way in order to get your way.

reply

People don't realize that everyone has a privilege. White privilege is the only one people want to talk about.

reply

Point out the privilege minorities have, please. And how they compare to straight, white, male privilege.

reply

I think you need to read what I wrote again.

reply

You said everyone has privileges, which are...?

reply

You can be black but have straight privilege. You can be Asian and have able-bodied privilege. You can be Hispanic and the privilege of growing up with both parents. All the demographics I mentioned above can be privileged to live in a first world country.

reply

I agree with a lot of what you said in your earlier posts on this thread, but don’t live in a world of generalizations. Haha.

You can speculate about people based solely on their demographics all day long.

That’s what 99% of the population does these days.

reply

Where did I generalize? I just said certain demographics can benefit from privileges.

reply

I was just waking up and misread the post you wrote before this. My mistake. You’re good. 😂

I’m just so sick of everyone talking about everyone’s perceived “privilege” all day every day. People need to move on. Nobody understands individualism anymore. All day people trying to determine which general groups of people have it better than other general groups of people.

reply

It's cool. I hate how people make a certain demographic feel like they're victims.

reply

Yeah, it’s brutal.

reply

Yo how come u don’t hear this kinda crap from any other race like Indians, Chinese or Mexicans??

reply

I know. When Oscar So White happened, the very next year a record number of black people were nominated. No other racial minority was nominated. I can probably name 10 times the amount of black actors than Asian actors.

reply

"young fool, john boyega, only now, at the end, do you understand"

reply

He must needs a good ass kicking.

reply

sounds like you are a racist samoan

reply

In what way?

David Prowse recently complained about James Earl Jones nabbing his Vader Voice over with:

Prompting (mostly peaceful) riots (mainly throughout tea rooms) from Falmouth to Bude
