Gets hammered for her naivety..

So the Internet is dog-piling on Gadot and her famous actor friends for trying to cheer us up with a video with their warbly, screechy version of John Lennon's Imagine.

(Although Amy Adams and one or two others sound pretty good I think...)

The snark is pretty thick, some describing the stunt as tone deaf and condescending. Others say that donated money would made a better choice.

To be fair, I know that some of these actors have donated some of their wealth to charity... maybe not COVID specific... but people just wanna hate on them for their privilege I guess.

I hope Wonder Gal has a thick skin...

"Imagine" is misunderstood by a lot of people.

I once saw it sang by a contestant on one of those singing talent shows. She was backed up by an earnest gospel choir. They completely missed the point of the song... hell, the very first line of lyrics must have floated right over their heads.

The song is about the tribalism that separates us... and the thing that will kill us, assuming we aren't done in by viruses or asteroids first.

Jamie Dornan Defends Gal Gadot's 'Imagine' Video, Reveals Who Asked Him to Participate

https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/jamie-dornan-defends-gal-gadots-imagine-video-reveals-who-asked-him-to-participate.3400124/

Jamie Dornan is one of the many celebrities who was featured in Gal Gadot‘s viral “Imagine” video and he’s speaking out to defend the intentions of the video.

Gal gathered a bunch of celebs to sing snippets of the John Lennon song “Imagine” to show support for people around the world affected by the current health crisis. Instead of inspiring fans, it actually got a negative reaction as people called out celebrities for singing lines like “imagine no possessions” when they actually are privileged.

Jamie opened up about the video during an appearance on the Tea With Me podcast.

“It’s a funny thing. Not being on social media, I wasn’t really that aware of the negative reaction, but I was made aware quite quickly by some mates,” he said. “It was early on in the lockdown process. Gal, who organized it, she organized it with Kristen Wiig.”

“Kristen and I did a movie together last summer that’s meant to be coming out this summer on July 31, but who knows what will happen. There’s still hoping it will get a cinematic release, who knows… We got on brilliantly. I would do anything for her — that’s how highly I think of her. I was the biggest fan of her before anyway,” Jamie added. “Such a genius… Kristen texted, ‘My friend Gal and I are trying to organize this thing to lift people’s spirits.’”

Jamie said that he was told they wanted him to sing just a line from the song and he could pick between two different lines. He said “of course” he’d do it and it sounded like a “lovely thing to do.”

A few days after the video was released, Kristen texted Jamie and said “sorry” for asking him to be part of the video.
