Daddy's gotta get you work huh buddy!?
I don't blame him, I mean he was literally born into the buisness and given a golden ticket.. but fawwk.
shareI don't blame him, I mean he was literally born into the buisness and given a golden ticket.. but fawwk.
shareHe's been given a chance by Clint, but hardly any favoritism. Scott is just getting started and I hope his future is as bright as his father's!! Best of luck always, Scott!!
shareSo too were Bryce Dallas Howard, Liza Minelli, Kate Hudson, Charlie Sheen, Michael Douglas, Willow and Jaeden Smith, etc. The list of children of stars who become famous in their own right is ongoing. Granted most of them don't have parents that are willing to put them in a movie. Many of them have to pay their dues and prove their worth. Even in the case of Scott Eastwood, his father didn't give him a starring role in his films. He simply gave him a small role in order to slowly prove himself. It may be argued that this is not fair, and perhaps it isn't. But it is a pretty broad and incorrect assumption to argue that these children are "born into the business and given a golden ticket." Many of them do indeed possess talent of their own. Mommy or Daddy can only open the door, it is up to them to sink or swim on their own merits.
shareDon't forget about the Coppola family. That one is doing really great, and they're actually all good at what they're doing
shareyou forgetting jennifer aniston, Daniel day lewis, sean penn, cuba gooding jnr., Gwyneth Partlow,Keira Knightley, drew Barrymore,Maggie Gyllenhaal, ben stiller, angelica Huston, Ashley judd,Jake Gyllenhaal, Jennifer Jason leigh, liv taylor,Kristen Stewart,Daniel Radcliffe, Penelope anne miller,Oliver reed, kate Hudson, tom Hudson, George Clooney, kate beckinsale, liza minilli, Michael douglas, Charlie sheen,Toro spelling, Jennifer grey, jamie lee curtis, carrie fisher, thora birch, matthew perry, miley cyrus, rebecca de morney, colin hanks, george clooney, ben stiller,Bijou Phillips,Jeff Bridges, beau bridges,Isabella Rossellini,Kiefer Sutherland,Blake Lively,Emilio Estevez, angelina jolie,Jane Fonda, Vanessa regrave, Natasha Richardson, emma Roberts, peter fonda, jeff bridges, beau bridges, bridget fonda,Melanie Griffith, john ritter,Freddie Prinze, Jr.,John Ritter, nicholas cage, talia shire,Joely Richardson, Dakota johnnson,Enrique Iglesias, to name a few [believe me there's LOADS more examples of famous faces and non famous actors you see on tv/film that have loads of connections through their parents or family that got them where they were, even some of the people in reality shows like the hills have parents in the industry] ............
Not that theres anything wrong with it as alot of the above are good in their own right but all were born into the business and had good connections in hollywood and in the industry from the day they were conceived the normal person would'nt have in a billion years, you know what they say-it's not what you know,it's who you know! It always baffles me how so many people think getting acting work and becoming famous in show business is as easy as becoming a teacher or nurse or if you got very good looks, live in L.A, go to stage school, have a good agent, are very determined and attend loads of auditions or are willing to strip naked on screen you can suddenly become famous-sorry it's not that easy, FAR FAR from it in fact. Even to get on reality tv or become an extra for a lot of tv shows is fierce hard as many others [100s-1000s] will compete you for it and this does not just apply to Hollywood but worldwide, the same goes for taking your clothes off on tv. I had a housemate for example who tried to audition for the uk reality show big brother and he said there were 100s[possibly more] of people at the auditions and he got rejected early on. Likewise the same housemate[a real wannabe] and his friends tried to audition as extras for the Game of Thrones series filmed here in Ireland and again they said the queues for the auditions were a mile long. This widespread belief that anybody can become famous or appear on tv if they want is a massive misconception and myth. Yes I know some people do make it on their own but a lot of the time the people who become famous and get the jobs is down to good old fashioned nepotism and connections in the industry and not the elusive 'big breaks' we hear so much about.
Had it not been for the familes the people I listed were born into the big likelyhood is that you'd never have heard of any of them so lay off Scott Eastwood when many other big names are guilty of this too.And before any of you disagree then remember it's almost[if not totally] impossible alone to get a cameo on the lowest ratings tv show in america so breaking into the business is next to impossible. I've seen a documentary on actors trying to get work in hollywood recently and people are very unaware of the difficulties they face.Whetever audition you go for be it for acting or trying to join a music band etc. there will be 100s-1000s other wannabes to compete with even for the tiniest tv role in an episode of something and again this does not just apply to Hollywood. In the documentary there was an audition for a small role in an ep of bh 90210 and something like 400 showed up for it! Big Chances are that if you become an actor you will get very little to no work and never become famous. Infact the average person has more chance of becoming a brain surgeon than a well known actor. It's like trying to win the lotto, you can buy the ticket every draw but the massive odds are stacked against you. 1 of the hardest industries in the world one can try to enter is likely the entertainment/celeb industry.
And Laura Dern.
"If you are what you eat... I could be you by morning."
This OP won't fly. There are countless scions of big movie stars that tried to make a career in the movies and failed dismally. At the end of the day it's not your name that matters, it's talent, charisma, etc. Your father;s name may get you a screen role but from then on out you're on your own.
I think Scott has what it takes.
Exactly right @billythepub
Lived in LA for decades.Worked in movie post-production. Worked in an office building w/2 casting agencies. When job calls went out there were hundreds lined up the stairs, out in the street, holding 8x10 photos & resumes. All had agents, too! These were not "open" calls.
Some days we jokingly called "beautiful Black girl day". Literally hundreds of the most breathtaking African-American women stood in line for hours, waiting to read for a TV commercial. I often wondered how the casting people could choose one, because they were all astounding! 400 Halle Berries all in a line!
Other days would be auditions for cowboys. Hundreds of ripped up guys would come dressed in jeans and Western shirts, chewing on blades of straw, twirling pieces of rope. Again, my co-workers and I would go to lunch, and check out all the guys in the audition line. All of them looked as good as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matthew McConaughey, etc. It made us all realize that family connections have a great deal to do with who gets the auditions and who ultimately gets hired. There is tough competition and literally hundreds and hundreds of people compete for even the smallest regional commercials.
The reason Nicolas changed his name from Coppola to Cage was so he wouldn't just get a job due to his last name. He wanted jobs because of talent not family name. I think Fast Times was his first role and he was Coppola then but I think he changed it after that movie, and didn't tell people he was related to the Coppolas when he would audition.
