Closer > Unknown Pleasures
And I don't even think it's close.
shareI don’t think that’s a fair assessment. When I want to rock out I listen to Unknown Pleasures, when I want to be in my feelings I listen to Closer.
Closer may be a more mature album but I don’t think it’s above and beyond Unknown Pleasures by any means.
My all time favorite Joy Division track, Day of the Lords is off Unknown Pleasures as well.
To me, I find the songs on Closer to be more punk and refined.
shareI’ll give you refined, and don’t get me wrong, Closer is a FANTASTIC album, the synths on Decades are sublime, my second favorite Joy Division song.
Plus, wasn’t Love Will Tear Us Apart written during the Closer sessions?
Love that song!!!
If you can find a copy of Heart and Soul, snatch it! It is the the most complete collection of their entire catalog and best sounding mastering (outside of the hard to find and crazy expensive Japanese box set) of all of their tracks. It has all of the songs from the Warsaw days and many unreleased Joy Division tracks.
shareRoughly how many songs?
share62 songs total. Broken up by era, Warsaw era to include early and late unreleased and rare Joy Division songs, Unknown Pleasure era to include unreleased and rare songs, and the Closer era to include rare and unreleased songs.
*all rare and unreleased songs are relative to said era.
Maybe it's on YouTube. I'm not a massive fan of the band to be shelling out a lot of money.
shareYou can get a complete copy off eBay for roughly $30.00 maybe less.
3 CDs total, burn with Apple Lossless and you have an excellent digital transfer.
It’s actually 4 CDs and maybe 80 + songs, the 4the cd is all live stuff. I forgot to count that one. The other 3 CDs contain studio tracks. I’ve never been a fan of live recordings, so I didn’t burn that one.
Both have some depressing shit on them
