Does Luke need a new agent?

I just watched Luke Evans deliver a superb performance in Ben Wheatlys High-Rise.

Although the reliably high quality efforts of Tom Hiddleston and Jeremy Irons are the lead characters, I thought it was Luke Evans who really carried the film and kept me interested in the increasingly...unusual (for want of a better word)... plot development.

After checking out his up coming films on IMDb, I'm sure he will rake in a load of $$$ over the next few years, but surely he should really be going for more challenging, leading roles to raise his profile? I want him to receive the recognition he deserves for his acting talent, but the films he seems to be making can only leave him to be seen as a middle ground actor, forever to be cast in supporting roles among the company of other underrated British actors, such as Sean Bean, Euan McGregor and Tom Hardy.

Am I the only person who thinks Luke Evans deserves more opportunities to shine as a leading actor?

Absolutely agree with you. Luke deserves so much more recognition. I still haven't seen High-Rise, but read a lot of rave reviews praising his performance.
I always saw an amazing potential in him. If only his films were as great as he is.
He's insanely talented actor, but very underrated for now, unfortunately.

His UK rep is United Agents, and they are the best agency in the UK. Pretty much every British actor and actress you see except Cumberbatch has them as a rep. Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Richard Armitage, Kit Harington, James McAvoy, pretty much anyone you have heard of from the UK.

The problem though is that must become a conflict of interest at some point, since many of these people would be up for the same roles.

I think the better question is a better publicist?

Don't get me wrong, Luke has done great work in big projects. I guess we need to hear more great stuff.

I just think he needs more publicity. Sometimes, you got to go in overdrive to make an impression.

See the problem here poetist is a better publicist would have to SELL Luke Evans to the public. Heterosexual celebrities SELL their image to the tabloids AND the mainstream media. This is why you hear so much about certain celebrities during Oscar season. Like Saorise Ronan for example. Every single interview Saorise Ronan has it always talks about her being IRISH. Luke people would need to get him on the big USA chat shows he hasn't done that yet. In the UK, Luke Evans has appeared on big shows like Good Morning Britain, Jonathan Ross show, I forget the name of the gay chat host who is actually Irish but he has been on that show too. The issue Luke Evans PR people seem to have is SELLING Luke in America. When this involves heterosexual celebrities they discuss their love life and their family ect. The problem with Luke Evans is he doesn't want anyone discussing his homosexuality. So Luke Evans might have to go the Queen Latifah and Kevin Spacey route they are respected actors but are not big stars. The only way I can see Luke Evans going big is to stop being a coward about being a gay man. Luke is too reticent to actually really discuss being a gay man and I think that has hurt him in a way.

At the end of the day, he has to make money. It's a shame that work dries up, if someone was to open up about their sex life. It's hypocritical of Hollywood, because it's creative team is loaded with gay people. However, they don't want to present that side to America, even though a lot of people kind of know.
