Alex proves inspirational

This board is really quiet lately. I still lurk around to see if there's anything worth discussing with other people. I've been a frequent visitor on this board for years. I can't remember exactly how long. Some of you veterans on this board may remember back in 2009 I posted about an Alex fanfiction I wrote called "The Howling Heart". It was hosted on FictionPress and I shared it here with Alex's fans. It was actually an original fiction, adult paranormal romance inspired by Alex and I wrote the hero Riley in his likeness. The story tested well with readers. Last summer, one of my readers enjoyed it so much, she mailed the manuscript to Alex's agent Thor Bradwell in LA...from Switzerland! Well, 2 years later, the story is offline and I'm trying to get it published as a book. I've had 2 offers from e-publishers, but I rejected them because I didn't agree with some things. I'm currently waiting for responses from 2 traditional publishers, and waiting for another to reopen submissions. In the meantime, I have 10 chapters available to read for free on my website. For those who know me from back in the day, then you know I'm an author.

Here's a short synopsis of The Howling Heart:

Paige Donovan is an ambitious college graduate who dreams of making it to the top of the corporate ladder. She's climbing fast when she's given the promotion of a lifetime at a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City. Her bright future comes to an unexpected halt after news of her father's premature death. She inherits his old cabin in the Colorado Rockies where she visited as a child, and just when she thinks her luck couldn't get any worse, she has a serious car accident in the mountains. Battered and bruised, she awakens in the small, remote community of Black River and is soon engulfed in the fantastical world of the Varulv...wolves descended from 12th century Scandinavia that have been granted the ability to appear human by Máni, the Norse god of the moon, and Freyja, the Norse goddess of love. Paige is desperate to return home, but she never expects to fall in love with her rescuer Riley Gray, a handsome young werewolf from England who offers her an alternate future...and his heart.

If you're interested in reading 10 chapters of the story, you can send me a PM, or if you already know my website, you can download the PDF there.

I had to bump this up to announce that after 21 months and 74 agents/publishers, I finally got a publisher for "The Howling Heart". I'm sooooo relieved and worn out. All those rejections made me feel very discouraged and I had quit back in April, but something told me to try just two more publishers before throwing in the towel. I had rolled the dice one last time, but this time I got lucky. Yesterday, I got the response I had been waiting for. A new e-publisher called My Green Publisher accepted my manuscript, but they won't release the novel until after April 2013. I'm totally fine with that. At least the book will be out there. I hope some of you Alex fans who enjoy paranormal romances will pick it up. If it wasn't for him becoming my muse, I would have never written my second novel. I owe Alex my utmost gratitude. The Howling Heart should be available in both e-book and paperback for those who still like to hold books when you read them.
