Should have played April O, Neil

Of all the A list actresses I think she has the right look and I think she's a better actress. I'll never get why Megan Fox was ever chosen.

It's hard to imagine a worse waste of talent than having JC in a TMNT movie.

reply

A TMNT movie COULD be good, certainly not these atrocities Bay is producing right now though.

And she's a great actress, but a bit over the age range April should be.

Elizabeth Olsen is one of the people they wanted for it. She would've been a great fit, but the project is just so incredibly beneath her.

Regardless, they certainly could've and should've found someone that's a far better fit for the role than Megan Fox.

Michael Bay wouldn't know what to do with a talent like Jessica Chastain. It would be a waste of her time.

Jessica Chastain should be casted to play Captain Marvel.

reply

Just saying the cast of Black Sails get to shine a lot in their roles, including Toby Stephens who deserves an Emmy for his performance as Captain Flint, but Bay's only a producer on that series as he is with Ninja Turtles so how well acting talent performs is a combo of the actors themselves and the ones really behind the camera regardless of who passes around production notes.

I agree about Jessica as Captain Marvel, but it seems Brie Larson is going to take that part, I could see her as Poison Ivy but she's made it clear she will only do a superhero film if she is the lead: no sidekick, no villain, or love interest role.

reply

Actually, she has said she would like to play a villain in a superhero movie.

And since I don't watch this type of movies, I would like to know if they have ever cast an actress in her late 30s, early 40s as a superhero?

She did? Alright then that opens up a lot more possibilities than I thought originally.

Age shouldn't be a huge factor considering Robert Downey Jr. is still playing Iron Man and he's in his 50's. The mentality behind superhero based movies has changed radically since the 90's and early to mid 00's where Jessica Alba can play a scientist in Fantastic Four.

reply

I'm fully aware of Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo playing superheroes in movies, but what I meant was the age of female actors that have been cast in superhero roles.

How old was Jessica Alba when she got cast in Fantastic Four? Is there any woman in her 40s or 50s currently portraying a superhero?

Currently none, there isn't an actress who is playing a superhero on screen in that age range, most of them have been in their 20's and early 30's, other cases they simply look youthful enough to pass as the characters. Given Chastain's success as an actress and the market for superhero based films at the moment though I don't think a studio would pass up the opportunity to have her headline one, I'm sure. But the possible success or failure of next year's Wonder Woman would impact those chances as most female driven blockbusters these days are young adult novel adaptations like Hunger Games and Divergent.

And to answer your question - Alba was 23 when she was cast in 2005's Fantastic Four.
