Favorite role?

Okay. I thought I'd start a positive thread, where hopefully we can talk about what we do like and not what we don't and put the arguments to one side.

I love Alex as an actor. There are very few actors I like as much, in fact only really Tom Hardy, Emily Blunt and Michael Fassbender. I don't like everything Alex has done but do find him pretty mesmerising in nearly every role, even if its in something I find generally is not to my taste.

So I wondered; what's your favorite role of his guys?

Mine is Oyster Farmer and Steve McG. I also liked him in The Shield.

Oyster Farmer I love because he's this down to earth Aussie kid trying to get the money for his sister. He's cocky but vulnerable deep down and he plays that beautifully. I also like a lot of the other actors in it, it's quirky, beautifully shot and overall a really great, indy type film.

Steve McG I love because he's so bamf. I'm not massively into procedurals and tv shows like HFO but the cast make this one stand out for me, the core four are amazing. Grace Park was the name that drew me in and she's part of the reason I stayed but the main reason was Alex as Steve.

I love how stoic and reserved McG is but how Alex gives him emotion too and depth.

Yes he looks hot but that's not why Alex pulls me in. Hot looking guys are everywhere on tv shows and in movies but they need something more to really make me take notice. Alex has that. He's got a lot of talent imo.

I'd have to say McGarrett is my most favorite with Will Bryant a close second. He was wonderful as Will. I absolutely adore "Mary Bryant" and watch it quite often. I couldn't even begin to list all the things I love about McGarrett. It's a perfect character for Alex and I can't imagine anyone else in that role.

Jude-- You must see "Oyster Farmer"! It's great. :) "Mary Bryant" is also great and not just because Alex is in it. It's very moving and based on a true story.

His accent in that is ''interesting'' lol. But nothing compared to Russel Crowes attempts in Robin Hood. I do really Mary Bryant. It's an amazing story. It's quite upsetting though I find.

Jude you've got to see Oyster Farmer. It's great. You can get it on Amazon for most regions I think?

You can order Oyster Farmer here:

I think it streams on Netflix, if you have an account with them. I used to, but have since canceled it so I'm not positive it's still available.

Oh such a difficult question...

I think I have to say that my most favorite at the moment is Steve McGarrett.

Then Mick St. John because that's how I learned about Alex and his career.

Then vincent in Criminal Minds..no matter how many times I see the end scene, it always gets me teary eyed.

and then Dr. Yablonski..I'm watching Three Rivers right now for the first time, on DVD.

And then Oyster Farmer. Only seen Oyster Farmer once, will have to re-watch it someday soon.

I do have Mary Bryant on DVD but still have to find the courage to tackle it. *grin* I already got the courage to watch Feed..now I need to make time to watch Mary Bryant..it's long (Mini series) and costume drama which is not my thing...:P

Also still need to get White Out.

Never seen him in The Shield..but guess I'll have to get the season(s) he played in for my AOL DVD collection.

I think Alex is an amazing actor..bringing to much to his characters. I also just love how he can convey so much emotion with just his eyes and face, no words needed.
