Who is the A+ List celebrity Mindy Kaling tried to shame in her blind item?

She says this is an A+ List celebrity that everybody knows and has watched grow up. He stars in very successful comedy movies that you’ve all seen and love but would never admit to watching. He is best friends with Conan O’Brien. Who is this?

Mindy Kaling just released 6 books on Amazon that you could read and listen to for free on Prime. In her book Big Shot she has a blind item about a celebrity she met. The book is about Hollywood big shot behavior, the things you do when you’ve made it to the top. One of those things is paying the bill for another table at a restaurant. Once she sent a tray of cookies to Hugh Jackman at the Ivy and when he came over to personally thank her, she felt this incredible high so she’s been doing it ever since.

One night she was having Christmas dinner with her parents when she saw this celebrity also having dinner. She told the waiter she will pick up that table’s check. When the waiter brought the check, it was over $6000 but she paid it since she wanted to impress her parents and watch their reactions when he comes over to thank her for her generosity.

So she waited and waited for him to come over. She even ordered dessert to stall for time and then ordered coffee, which she never does, to stall for more time. Finally she gets up to go to the bathroom and walks by and sees the waiter already cleared his table! He left without thanking her! She was humiliated in front of her parents but she brushed it off as no big deal.

But it really did bother her and eat away at her for months. One night at a party at Conan O’Brien’s house, she saw this guy there and was trying to avoid him. Rashida Jones asks why she’s avoiding the guy and Mindy tells her the story. Conan walks by and Rashida tells Conan. Conan was horrified and said this must be a terrible mistake because he’s his best friend and he would never be that rude. He’ll go get him and clear up this misunderstanding right now. Mindy begs Conan not to get him but Conan insists.

Mindy slips out the back door to avoid the confrontation because she hates awkward confrontations. Instead she’ll write a blind item and devote a whole book to it.
