yep. Its a common thing to do for thai men so im glad he's doing it now, after working his ass off for Ong bak 2 and 3.
shareI cant help but think that him becoming a monk is a knee jerk reaction to the tough times he went through during the shoot of ong bak 2 and all the pressure he faced since his rise to stardom
Still, if quiting movies and getting ordained is what he truly wants to do, then i hope it works out for him.
Well I read in an interview it was something he's always wanted to do, but not something he'll do forever. He said he wanted to get married too. So obviously he's gonna come back to movies after this.

It sounds more like he's doing it just to get out of his contract. But if he can't handle the pressures then well, what can you do...
And reading this news, I just imagine that he's gone to not just any temple, but to the Shaolin temple, and will come back after ten years as a Shaolin monk and portray a kick-ass Liu Kang in the Mortal Kombat reboot.

Jaa is clearly messed up. I didn't know about all the problems that went on during the shooting of Ong Bak 2/3.
check this out for the state of things

.... hmmm well it's great timing for him obviously. I know that being ordained is something pretty much most Thai men do at some point in their lives. I wouldn't say he's doing it just to piss out. It's kind of something he's always wanted to do. Kind of a cultural thing. I bet at this point in his life it's even more convenient though. Just my thoughts. Everyone seems to quick to judge someone, rather than taking a look at someone's cultural obligations. Just my thought.
shareI feel sorry for the stuff he's been through, but I question his motivations for insisting to direct Ong Bak 2. The rumors of sacrificing animals and black magic also don't help his image.
I love Tony Jaa's movies, but I admittedly no nothing of the man as a person. It sounds like he tried biting off more than he could chew, and, as the article says, crumbled under the pressure. Maybe he wanted to take the reigns for legitimate reasons, or maybe he got greedy.
I hope he joined the monkhood for the right reasons- and not to escape some contract, or whatever. It would be disrespectful if he joined under false pretenses. If those black magic rumors are true, it certainly seems like a contradiction. But maybe this will straighten him out, give him peace, and get him back on track.
Hopefully, he will also make peace with his former director. If not, there are plenty of people in Hollywood who would love to have him- I'd just be worried about what they'd do to him.
I've got a great idea for a movie when and if he comes back, though. It would be different from what he's done in the past, but would still potentially be awesome: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seh_Daeng
I know it's a dirty game, but it's the only one The Man left us to play.
The article speculates he'd likely stay 'til the end of a particular ten year contract. Any idea how much time he has left on that?
Otherwise, sounds like a story begging to be made into another action movie by the makers of Tropic Thunder.
