Wow, I always thought that Russell Crowe and Ben McKenzie were half-brothers er something. They look so much alike. I totally thought they were related and am having trouble believing that they aren't.
Anyone else agree?

shareWell I can't really say that I follow Ben or his work, so comparing his looks before to back then to whenever to now, well I can't comment on.
I never watched the OC, I tried during the 1st season and hated it. So yeah. But I've seen him here and there and saw him on Kimmel last night, which resulted in the post. But whenever I have seen him (Ellen, other talk shows, previews for OC and Southland), I've always thought he was Crowe's younger brother. So I went to look up why they don't have the same last name (maybe b/c they have different dads, or like Charlie Sheen/Emilio Estevez thing) and discovered they weren't even related. I couldn't believe it. I wonder if either of them has ever commented on looking like the other.
I think they are both rather good looking guys. I mean Crowe seems to have kinda let himself go the past few years. But I think even as recent as Gladiator, they look very similar. I mean they don't look like twins, but to me, they have a strong resemblance, which made me think they were brothers. IMO, they look alike the way brothers would look alike. Do you know what I mean? Does that make sense? What I mean is, I have a brother and a sister, and we definitely do not look like twins in anyway, but the average person can tell we are siblings b/c of similar features. That is how I see Russell and Ben.
Like I said, I don't really follow Ben's work, so I can not comment on how he looked then to how he looks now. I don't pay attention to him enough to know or recognize the changing details of his face and appearance in the way that you describe. So I guess what I mean is Ben's overall appearance and Russell's overall appearance, they look alike. Not the same, but alike. Even with Crowe's weight gain, I still think they look alike. Siblings can be different heights, weights, ages, colors, whatever, but they can still be observed by others as siblings.
So IMO, yes they still look alike.
A lot of people have seen the resemblance. It depends on angles, expressions, etc., but there are some pictures where it's absolutely striking. You are definitely not alone in your opinion.
