Islamic State attacks Moscow concert. Why and how will Putin respond?

I read the following first: https://www.gisreportsonline.com/r/russias-middle-east-resurgence-here-to-stay/

Russia is an ally of Syria and has air and naval bases there. Russia also trades weapons with Iran. Every Arab state hates Islamic State. What is Russia doing to provoke IS?

reply

He will proceed to be Putin his foot up their ass.

Signed, million man

reply

Putin should move his murderous butt to Syria, as long as he's still able to. 😎

It's possible to explain why the 'Islamic State' now struck in Russia.
That's a bit complicated...and then again it's not.
I'm a little too tired for that right now. 💤

reply

How? They plan to reinstate death penalty in russia. That will show those isis. LOL.

putin is such coward when it's about things like that that he was silent for whole 19 hours. russians have been laughing for a long time. That every time when something bad happens in russia, like terror attack or catastrophic event - putin is nowhere to be found for days. Because he doesn't want to be associated with "bad news". So he just hides like he never exist.

reply

It's obviously revenge for Syria. russia went into Syria to help Asad fight isis. And now it's payback time from them. I also read that isis hates iran too.

There is no need to provoke IS and everybody is their enemy. If they smell weakness, they exploit it. Their ideology mandates destruction of societal order as a necessary first step toward establishment of caliphate (check "Management of Savagery"). There are actually many reasons to attack Russia, many more reasons than there are to attack USA (USA being purely an ideological enemy).

1. Russia is in a weakened position.
2. Russia has a large Muslim minority.
3. Russia is an ally of Assad (pretty much saved his ass) and buddies with Iran.
4. Russia confronted directly IS and other Islamist groups in Syria.
5. Russia has its own share of meddle in Muslim countries (eg. in Afghanistan sided with communists against Islamists).
6. There are many IS recruits from Russia. At one point a military commanded of IS was a Chechen (born in Georgia actually) who hated Russia in his guts.
7. Many former Muslim colonies of Russia where there is no love for them (like Tajikistan, where after the fall of USSR natives were expelling Russians from their homes at a gun point).

Actually, I'm shocked when people ask why would IS attack Russia. That means the person is totally oblivious to world affairs.
