Helicopters are death traps! Don't ever take the chance!

I heard news about the crash at a local store, where all the customers were all in a tizzy discussing it. Right away, there was "that guy." You know--that guy that says that air travel is the safest form of travel.

Are you kidding me?! Copters are horrifying death traps that both severely injure and kill people all the freaking time. I live in NYC, and we've had more of these accidents than I can count, the most famous one involving Jane Dornacker, who I heard die on the air in 1986! Before that, the worst accident happened on the Pan Am building, where a B movie director was beheaded by the rotor blades, then sliced other victims to ribbons as it went down.

Recently, a copter went down in NYC, and the passengers hit the water completely conscious, but then drowned like rats because they were strapped into their seats.

Here's a lovely video of inside a copter as it crashes. Fun stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Efv0Rp2Bjpk

I know, I know. You can die in your house slipping in the bathtub and shit. Yeah, you can. But at least you won't be screaming to your death as you fall or drown to death.

*The fact that he was pretty much the only one in the area flying that day, after other entities were grounded.

*He was known to be a very experienced pilot, but chose to head into dangerous fog with no kind of terrain technology in the aircraft. If he was so experienced, it seems he would know that at a certain altitude, he would not be able to receive assistance from Air Traffic Control to help guide him.

*After ATC told him that he was too low to receive guidance, he said nothing else, but then almost immediately accelerated and went left, crashing directly in the mountains.

*Once he saw that he was about to be heading into a dangerous foggy area, why not just turn around and put the helicopter down?

It's called "get-there-itis".

This kind of reminds me of what happened to Aaliyah. She and her entourage were so concerned with being to a certain place on time even though the circumstances were already working against her favor (such as being a overloaded private plane and a pilot who was already under the influence).
