Person of the year! Well deserved.
The kid's got it right.
shareSure, an autistic potato screeching the script from her handlers gets person of the year while people fighting for their rights in Hong Kong are ignored.

The ditto brigade are going to be in a state over this. They'll need a special episode of Rush to feel safe again.

Can't believe this. Is this part of Make a Wish or something?
shareIt's what happens when you put a ugly little kid out there and have them throw a tantrum. The snowflakes have been conditioned to give them a trophy just for showing up. The amount of hypocrisy of this little Gullom Girl is what really irks me... Leonardo DiCaprio is probably the only celebrity that flies around more polluting the environment while yammering about how everyone needs to save the environment than this little ugly troll from Sweden. Once upon a time the only nuisance from Sweden was the disco crap from ABBA... now they've thrown out this ugly kid.
shareI wouldn't try reasoning with the OP. He's been brainwashed.
shareLOL!
shareI'm legit confused as to what she has accomplished. Perhaps you could clarify?
shareShe made fighting climate change an urgent topic.
shareI mean, this has been a major talking point of a lot people, and even the formation
of specialized organizations before her. Why is she deserving of this more than them? Also, is complaining actually an accomplishment? MLK, Rosa Parks...they actually DID something, there is a huge difference.
Sure, but she went viral. It was luck but the important thing is that people and politicians are talking about it now and are making further legislation and are really acting on it! Handing Thunberg that "prize" is symbolic. But she does deserve it.
shareI think that's what my point is. There really isn't anything happening because of her. They are acknowledging her, at least the people who already had the same thoughts and had already vocalized them, but there is nothing new that's in place or even started through legislation because of her. I looked, and most of the articles praised her, but acknowledge that things unfortunately aren't actually changing. I've got nothing against her personally, but she's a novelty talking point, that's it. She's only a kid, that's reasonable, but person of the year is a bit too far.
shareGreat storms begin with a simple breeze.
shareTrumptards need something to complain about in these trying times for their cult leader.
shareWell we'll still have to save them.
shareYou have room to talk. LIEberals have been whining & slandering ever since their favored candidate lost the election (lol), like a bunch of pathetic crybabies -- wah, wah. (PS I LOVE the sound of Dems/Libs crying in the morning... and the afternoon, evening and all night).
shareTrump or Clinton? I hate to break it to you but it's almost 2020, not still 2016.
And so sad you believe there is a democracy in the USA. Proportional representation is where it's at baby. You might get there some day.
It wasnβt urgent before? What do you think the brainless left has been screaming about for the last 30+ years?
Ted Dancin said in 1988 oceans would rise 100β in the next 10 years.
Time to wake up. The clock is ticking. The C squads moronic claims fed to her by international communists will fail as usual.
Science is not a popularity contest. Consensus is not part of the scientific method.
The suppression of uncomfortable ideas may be common in religion or in politics, but it is not the path to knowledge. And there's no place for it in the endeavor of science. We do not know beforehand where fundamental insights will arise from about our mysterious and lovely solar system. And the history of our study of the solar system shows clearly that accepted and conventional ideas are often wrong and that fundamental insights can arise from the most unexpected sources." - Carl Saganshare
She accomplished bringing the climate change theme park back to relevance when it was slowly drying off in the last ten years and more and more reasonable people found no evidence whatsoever of actual problems regarding climate.
shareYup. God it's so fascinating to see those trump suckers triggered! How can people live like that!
share[deleted]
I don't support Trump.
That's a real headscratcher for ya isn't it?
Proof that people can learn.
share...while you ironically prove that people can refuse to learn due to LIEberal idiotology and your gullibility in buying into the Leftwing #ClimateChangeHoax: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8455KEDitpU. Watch the video and wake up to reality, my friend.
shareA denier! You're an endangered species, friendo.
shareYes, I deny your loony false religion which is easily disproven in a 12-minute video, not to mention loads of other data. More & more people are seeing the light & laughing at Leftie climate alarmists. You types have been crying "The sky is falling" for over a hundred years. Here are some examples from "scientists" back then:
β’ the World May Be Frozen Up Again β New York Times, February 1895
β’ 1902 - βDisappearing Glaciersβ¦deteriorating slowly, with a persistency that means their final annihilationβ¦scientific factβ¦surely disappearing.β β Los Angeles Times
β’ 1912 - Prof. Schmidt Warns Us of an Encroaching Ice Age β New York Times, October 1912
β’ 1923 - βScientist says Arctic ice will wipe out Canadaβ β Professor Gregory of Yale University, American representative to the Pan-Pacific Science Congress, β Chicago Tribune
β’ 1923 - βThe discoveries of changes in the sunβs heat and the southward advance of glaciers in recent years have given rise to conjectures of the possible advent of a new ice ageβ β Washington Post1895 - Geologists Think
β’ 1924 - MacMillan Reports Signs of New Ice Age β New York Times, Sept 18, 1924
β’ 1929 - βMost geologists think the world is growing warmer, and that it will continue to get warmerβ β Los Angeles Times, in Is another ice age coming?
β’ 1932 - βIf these things be true, it is evident, therefore that we must be just teetering on an ice ageβ β The Atlantic magazine, This Cold, Cold World
So Gollum's, I mean Greta's, doomsday warnings are nothing new. It's the same-old-same-old. Wake up.

Take a math course; key to the universe!
shareI don't know if you just started following the news, but this is incorrect. Obama had the Climate Action plan in 2008, and the left and Dems have had it as one of their favorite talking points since. Remember the Climate March in 2017? It drew thousands of people. How about all the celebs who make this a big issue. Emma Thompson is hardcore. Mark Ruffalo made a documentary. No, sorry, she isn't anything new or special, she just got sucked into a global episode of "kids say the darndest things". She's a novelty, and that's her only appeal.
shareDon't forget the offset against Trump and Bolsonaro. And that we are currently writing about her.
shareLol. I love all the triggered righties hating in her.
In the end, she has accomplishments and you are all jealous of her.
Yeah
shareName one accomplishment of hers....she's the best at skipping school I've ever seen, but other than that, what has she done?
shareI'm trying to get that answer too. The best I've got is "she brought awareness"? I was under the impression that climate change has been a major talking point for the last 5 or 6 years, so I don't know how you bring awareness to something that's currently being discussed constantly.
shareAwareness is nice but action needs to be taken FFS! You can't talk trees to appear. Because of her, policians are finally pushed to steer toward annecologically sound future..because it's hot! (pun intended)
shareYou keep talking about what politicians are doing because of her, so please give me some specific examples.
shareMost intelligent politicians are laughing at her.
shareSpeed reductions in the Netherlands were pushed through lately because of the new awareness that Thunberg rose.
shareNope, this was discussed before she came on the scene, and none of the articles about this mention her name even once. I'm going to leave it at that, because you are obviously incapable of admitting your wrong, which makes a conversation with you pointless.
share[deleted]
You've replied to everything else except this, which happens to be a very specific question. It's almost like you're full of shit, and you know it.
shareThe sad thing is that you really don't understand.
shareSee, this is the kind of statement that gets me from the cult-of-climate change people that somehow, only they have the innate ability to see the truth and understand how something as complex as how the climate of a planet over millennia works...and everybody else is just plain stupid. My guess is that this little girl resonates with them purely on an emotional level and that is what they're responding to rather than any empirical scientific data. In fact, I believe they subconsciously manipulate data so as to fit those emotions to form a belief system which is why they go on the attack when those emotions are challenged. You win people over with proof, not hyperbole. I was once told during a debate that I just hated (note the emotional language) environmentally sound things like electric cars. I have nothing at all against electric cars, they just aren't there from a financial and technological standpoint yet. Build an affordable electric car that rivals the driving experience I have now, won't need to constantly recharge and won't cost a fortune to repair when it breaks down and I'll be onboard. Instead, climate folks rush to get into those cars, despite all their shortcomings because, in their minds, it affords them an air of superiority over everyone else.
I don't invest my beliefs in politicians or celebrities and I certainly ain't gonna bow down to that little girl.
Brain-dead from capitalism. Don't shit where you eat dude. Even if it's cheaper than building an outhouse.
shareExcellent post, Reeveman. π
shareVery sound logic, and well put.
shareHear Hear! Well said Reeveman!
shareIf she actually did something besides throw a scripted tantrum at a bunch of lazy, selfish, overpaid suits at the UN, maybe; but frankly, she's an ugly, retarded, potato-faced puppet with childish pigtails, comes from the rape capital of the world, and it's a very cold, swampy country run by short-sighted cowards that don't give a shit about their own people. Frankly, there's nothing she has that I would want....nothing.
shareTry Atkins bb.
shareThis. She has literally accomplished more in a few weeks than Ditto in Chieffff has in almost 3 years in office! And she is more respected by world leaders.
