Gemini Man looks like it sucks. No surprise it stars Will Smith.
She's done a couple of TV shows but she hasn't had any meaty roles in top movies.
Some might dismiss this but I definitely think the whole McGregor affair thing did her career some damage.
Her most famous role is still Scott Pilgrim and that was 10 years ago. She's had stuff like 10 Cloverfield Lane that's good well. But her recent films like Gemini Man and All About Nina haven't connected with a audience. Birds of Prey, is either going to be good or bad, just one of those films. And unless her part is a show stealer I doubt it's going to change her status much. Some good stuff on her C.V, I think she's someone shown with her turn in Fargo season 3, might do better maybe finding a great role in a top TV drama.
Have to be honest..she could walk up next to me and I have no idea who the hell she is.
shareShe's a talented actress who was a rising young talent in the late 00s and seemed poised to break out big by 2010 but ever since she somehow hasn't managed to land a bonafide hit through no fault of her own. I thought she was good in Gemini man with Will Smith who is a charismatic proven actor but it still underperformed through no fault of either of them as did Birds of Prey. Hopefully she'll make it happen soon.
shareWill Smith should do more roles against type. He's trying too hard to be like Tom Cruise and imho Tom's looking long in the tooth and he doesn't have the same juice he had even in his 40s. Tom's pushing 60 and even though he's a top fitness guy it shows. Will Smith's idea of "against type" is to play a bum who finds salvation thru perseverance and determination, so it still looks and feels like a Scientology training film. He needs to play a guy who gains a lot and loses because he's flawed and has shortcomings but not a bad person per se. Think Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade..
shareI must admit that I'm an admirer of MEW's looks more than her acting, but I have seen a lot of her smaller films. I think she has the same screen presence and acting chops as a Maggie Gyllenhaal or Elizabeth Banks but not the same intensity as an Emily Blunt, Blake Lively, or Amy Adams.
