Headslaps

I love them for what they were intended to be. I think it speaks volumes that Michael continued in his role after Mark gave him the first headslap. I know there is always those that believe it borders on abuse, but I don't see them that way. Gibbs uses them to redirest. Thoughts?

I'm impressed he kept going as well. Talk about trust!

The thing with the headslaps is that Tony has always only allowed Gibbs to ever do them to him. Whenever anyone else has done them, he has reacted very aggressively to tell them to never do it again. What is more, he almost always thanks Gibbs - not something he would do if it were unwelcome. When the headslaps died off, in large part because some incredibly rude 'fans' were doing them to MW when he was out and about in public, Tony lamented their loss and tried to get Gibbs to do them again. That discussion he had with Abby about how Gibbs kisses her and smacks him in the head was so sweet and spoke volumes about their place in their relationship. I was so happy when Tony told Gibbs straight out how he felt about the headslaps - that he considered them a sign of affection.

Signs of abuse? That's just Zfans trying to project what Z was doing to Tony onto another character in a "but he did it, too" gambit. Sorry, not working.

Total trust. And I have always been amazed by that!

I have also always loved how he was able to get defensive when others gave him one, it showed he knew where Gibbs was coming from when he gave them and why, Everyone else was simply emulating Gibbs and had no right.

I do feel for Michael with everyone coming up and giving him a headslap...but it does show how very much they identify with the show...but as always a few had to spoil it for all...never fails! I have always seen it as a sign of affection...not like Gibbs could kiss his cheek or temple.

Me, too. Any way Gibbs wants to show Tony affection is okay with me! Just sayin'!

Well yea...duh!! I am soooooo with you there...Perhaps we should suggest it...a kiss here or there would show the love!

Hey, as long as the love is shown, amirite?!

It's about time Gibbs and Tony resolved whatever has come between them. It is the Gibbs & DiNozzo relationship which I feel is the cornerstone of the show and it was broken about the time the show became ZCIS and Gibbs became everyone's "Daddy". I miss the more relaxed, trusting relationship of the early years. It has vastly improved this season, but Gibbs is still pretty much all Tell and no Show about how he trusts and relies on him. Tony hasn't been his go-to man for a long time and that makes me sad. How Tony puts up with him, even knowing he's an unrepentant bastard, is beyond me some times still. I honestly believe, if they fixed that one relationship, the rest of the characters would fall into place and the writers would have an easier job to do.

Yep...just show the love!

Agreed. I have often been amazed that Tony puts up with Gibbs...the whole thing with 'Dominoe', Franks, Dearing. Maddie just to name a few had Gibbs seriously breaking his own rules. But the distance that they gave the two of them needs to be resolved. I was a bit (read a lot) aggrevated when Tony and McGee were fighting over who had point while Gibbs was gone with his dad and Gibbs have it to Tim. NEVER should have been an issue...Tony is SIC period!

It feels like they are working towards fixing the relationship between Tony and Gibbs and then yes...I agree the rest would fall into place. They are the rocks...the cornerstone and the glue..

Honestly thought it was scripted when I first saw it....later on, going back to rewatch after I heard the story, I was amazed that he stayed in character - so early into the life of the show....that is one great and talented professional!
