I saw a clip this morning on MLB Network from Euk where he was telling the story of his first manager telling him to grab a bat and kill the rally..
Yeah, I saw this. Sad but inevitable I suppose. He was a really well liked fellow.
RIP funny man, you made people laugh and had a good sense of humor.
It just made me so sad to see this. I can remember watching him do commentary on "ABC's Monday Night Baseball" when I was a kid (along with Howard Cosell), then the Miller Lite commercials, and then the first two "Major League" movies. I actually never watched "Mr. Belvedere" for some reason (I was in school and probably just didn't have the time to see it). He was awesome!
Here's a YouTube link to his MLB Hall Of Fame speech. It's a bit lengthy, but what a great speech this is (and kind of sad at the same time now, since several of the MLB Hall Of Famers that you see in the video have passed as well). I think what he said was so true...he really was a "baseball guy" at heart. He loved the game (I can identify with that... baseball was my favorite sport growing up as a kid). RIP, Mr. Baseball. 😥

Bob Uecker, the longtime voice of the Milwaukee Brewers, was named the 2003 recipient of the Ford C. Frick Award, because of his broadcasting career. He joked that he thought he should have got into the Baseball Hall of Fame as a player. He joked about his playing career most of his life, after his six-year career ended. I had his baseball card; his batting average was under .200.
Several years ago, he had to get a restraining order against a middle aged woman who was stalking him.
Yes...he always downplayed his MLB career, but I believe that, of his 14 career HRs, he hit 2 of them off great Hall Of Fame pitchers (both lefties...like me! 😃): Warren Spahn and Sandy Koufax.
One of his many great quips was regarding his HR off Koufax... something along the lines of, "It almost kept him (Koufax) out of the Hall Of Fame!" 😃
RIP Bob🕯
I also remembered him in Mr Belvedere👍
Bob Uecker is an American treasure.
shareI'm sure God will have him in the front row. RIP
shareR.I.P.
He delivered some of the funniest lines in movie history so perfectly in Major League.
90 is a nice long life, but it’s still a bummer to see him go.
