Is anyone here even Canadian?

Just saying ...

reply

Me and likely samoanjoes.

When you were so ecstatic about an American talk show host talking down Canada: https://moviechat.org/nm0874040/Justin-Trudeau/661a203de9a22919ca4169c2/Bill-Maher-mocks-liberal-Canada

Make me wonder if there was any truth at all in what you were saying.

Especially since I know you are paid to be here.

I think a genuine Canadian would be sad, or at least bittersweet about it. Or say something like your yanks have your own set of problems.

Because Bill Maher was not talking down Trudeau, he was talking down Canada.

But no, you just kept viciously attacking Trudeau, like what a paid troll with instructions would have done.

reply

“Especially since I know you are paid to be here.”

Wait! What? You can get paid? What the hell have I been doing all these years?

reply

I think most of them are from places like India, it is not exactly a high paying job.

reply

Even so ☹️

reply

They usually recruit on social media: https://www.diis.dk/en/my-life-as-a-troll-lyudmila-savchuk-s-story

But it seems job offers are more Geo-targeted.

reply

Why would companies in India pay people money to make fun if a Canadian prime minister on an obscure website?

reply

They hire in India, that does not mean they are Indian companies.

I think the companies hired those trolls are either working for Canadian or US interests, those are probably the only 2 countries give a crap about Canadian elections.

This place has at least few hundred thousand users, but it is not hard to stand out in this place. On bigger platforms it is a lot harder, even cost money, to have your content seen.

Here there are about 20 trolls, and you see them everywhere.

@Satan2016, just 1 troll, basically dominated this board.

I think it is cost effective to use 20 trolls to influence at least 200K users.

reply

I get paid by George Soros. In Jew Gold!

reply

You seem to be a conspiracy nutcase. Take your meds!
Maher's criticisms are echoed by the National Post.

reply

I have seen you talking about American politics, you were taking the side of liberals. And when you talk about Canadian politics you criticise the liberals.

Why? Why switch side? Other than you are paid too.

I am quite curious what excuses you can come up with this time.

reply

As for @samoanjoes from a quick browsing of the board, he only criticised Trudeau on his stance on Israel.

If he were Canadian I am sure that would not be the top of his concerns.

reply

Why? There's a lot of Canadians, Brits and Western Europeans like on all the post-IMDb forums.

reply

Don’t forget the Aussies and the Kiwis.

reply

Yeah, my bad. There's a big contingent of Australians and more New Zealanders than one might think. And South Africans.

If I was to guess? It's maybe 50% Americans.

reply

There is a long list of commonwealth countries.

reply

Feels like 90% USians most of the time.

reply

Well judging by IMDb and some of the post-IMDb spinoffs, I'm always surprised at the number of British Commonwealth posters. I remember doing a quick poll on IMDb and about half were non-Americans. The most successful ProBoards "IMDb" forum is run by a Brit, Flying Monkeys.

fc31 is an Aussie

Canadian here

All I can say is that the T replacement will be part of the same cabal

In other words, T was ordered from above - another actor will take his place to 'regain trust' of the plebs

reply

Yeah, that I imagine is what a real Canadian would say, the sadness, disappointment and even disillusionment.

reply

Why? Poilievre is a Conservative.

reply

I am, but I escaped twenty years ago.

reply

I heard Canada was not that bad 20 years ago.

reply

I saw the writing on the wall. I witnessed the beginning of Justin Turdeau's ascendancy to future PM when he gave his speech at Pierre Trudeau's funeral. I knew it was only a matter of time before he became PM. Plus, I also met an American woman online who I married.

reply

I'm American but I've visited Canada twice in my life. Beautiful country, friendly people and the occasional moose. The best vacations I've ever had.

reply

Any Canadian food you would recommend? I am very much a food tourist.

reply

Canadian food is not much different from American food. Tasty!

reply

Then I guess it is not that different from Australia. We don't have any real signature Aussie food either.

reply

Poutine is usually noted as the signature Canadian dish.

Poutine (Quebec French: [puˈt͡sɪn] ⓘ) is a dish of french fries and cheese curds topped with a brown gravy. It emerged in Quebec in the late 1950s in the Centre-du-Québec region, though its exact origins are uncertain, and there are several competing claims regarding its invention. For many years, it was used by some to mock Quebec society.[1] Poutine later became celebrated as a symbol of Québécois culture and the province of Quebec. It has long been associated with Quebec cuisine, and its rise in prominence has led to its growing popularity throughout the rest of Canada.

I am not sure.

Like Canada is also credited with pineapple pizza, but that is not what people going to Canada for.

Australia has Lamingtons, Kangaroo meat, Anzac biscuits, but I bet you never hear Aussies saying you just have to try those.

Like UK has banger and smash and scotch eggs, but I think the real unique UK food you just must try is clotted cream. I increased a lot of weight last year because of that. I tried to make clotted cream in Australia myself, they are OK, but not as good as in UK, our thickened cream and double thickened cream are just not for this purpose, unlike the British double cream, of course they sell clotted cream in supermarket, there is even a clotted cream flavoured ice cream, which is not bad too.

If you are in Italy you just have to try truffles, pizza is not what people going to Italy for, pizza and pasta might have been marginally better in Italy, but they are not worth a trip.

Like there is no point to go to US to try hamburgers, I have been to five guys, which is supposed to be one of the best burger joints in US, in both UK and Malaysia, and they are a disappointment. I bought high end hamburger patties in both UK and Australian supermarkets, cooked myself at home, and they taste better.

And of course if you go to Spain you just have to try the various kinds of Paella, they also sell Paella soup mix in supermarkets.

And in France they sell Foie gras in supermarket. Snails, duck confit and onion soup are worth trying, they are not worth a trip.

And Dubai, even it is not a middle eastern food, is a good place for caviar, it is the only place I have been to actually sell beluga caviar in supermarkets. Waitrose sells 4 kinds of expensive caviar: beluga, imperial, sevruga and russian osetra, and cheap caviar and caviar imitation. I can buy caviar in Australia online, but they are like 3 times more expensive, and I won't even know if they are the real stuff. Of course unless you put those expensive caviar side by side, trying the same time, it is very hard to tell the difference, sevruga is almost half the price of beluga, look and taste almost the same, only when you eat at the same time you can tell the difference, beluga is always better.

Anyway, if you never been to Dubai, and never tried the expensive caviar, Dubai is probably worth going.

reply

Nice post! Thank you. You're making me Hungry. I'm thin as a rail but I'll try anything foodwise.

I love pineapple on pizza but I thought it was some Hawaiian bastardization.

It sounds like you've been allover the world!

reply

I love to travel, I think it is an Australian thing, we are so remote from everywhere.

reply

Five Guys is terrible and overpriced

reply

I believe you, after I tried twice, in 2 different countries.

After I tried in Kuala Lumpur, I was like:"Is that it?"

After I tried in London, I was like:"Yeah, I guess that is pretty much it."

reply

Seal Flipper pie.

reply

Does it taste any good?

UK has jellied eels, that is the one food I have no courage in trying.

I tried steak and kidney pie, it was also a disappointment, because it tastes no difference at all compare to just steak pie, which is everywhere in Australian supermarket frozen section.

Does this pie taste any different?

reply

You don't know, do you?

Because you are not Canadian.

reply

Though I'm not, there are many odd Canadians.
