Is she black?
I can't tell.
shareI've always thought so. Yes, she's Cuban, but Afro-Cuban is a thing.
shareYes she's black. Her nationality is Cuban.
shareInteresting. I always thought she was American!
shareIf she's born in New York then she obviously IS US American.
She has Cuban roots, like Scorsese has Italian roots or DiCaprio has German roots.
Obviously she has African ancestry and is probably a mix of African, European and indigenous American ancestry like many so-called blacks..
I can't say for sure how she defines herself privately, but both on "Suits" (several episodes) and in "I Think I Love My Wife" with Chris Rock, her characters are verbally defined as black, if that is any indication. On "Suits" her character has had several conversations where she talks about being black in relation to other characters. (Yeah, I know that doesn't necessarily mean she'd have to be, but... I somehow think it's a clue.)
IMDb-boards would be less confusing if people would mark their signatures clearly.
Interesting. I always thought one could be both.
Some movies are released; others sneak out.
What a bizarre question OP. I don't understand why people seem to have this confusion when it comes to people from Spanish speaking countries because if she were born in Jamaica or Barbados or Some other Caribbean island you certainly wouldn't be asking if she were black.
Do we need to have a discussion about race vs ethnicity vs nationality? She is clearly a black woman(don't understand the confusion) who is ethnically Cuban and her nationality is American. Hope that helps.
I always assumed hispanic-black.
