always the bad guy?

with a face like that, was he cursed to always play the villain?

reply

Not always, but mostly. He played Hercules in 2000, in Jason and the Argonauts and he was amazing. Honestly think that he didn't have to act in that role.

Miracle Mile SPOILER ALERT---

He has a nice surprise-good-guy role in MIRACLE MILE. When he's introduced you think of him as an ominous and scary character but he shockingly comes through on one of his promises later in the film. He is all bloody and injured looking as well, which makes you wonder what he had to get through and why he came back to try to save the main characters. He's actually possibly the most honorable character in the whole movie and a surprise in which everyone else is succumbing to hysteria over the impending end of the world.

Haven't seen that one. I always liked him. I was a kid when Cobra came out. He looked scary and awesome. And from what I've seen over the years, he's a really underappreciated as an actor.

There were a couple attempts to turn him into a leading man, like the 1990 action movie HIRED TO KILL, directed by Niko Mastorakis, the Greek businessman-director who cynically made movies just "to make money", so I have no idea if it is any good or not. Looks like it was not made with quality in mind. I did enjoy Mastorakis's first movie ISLAND OF DEATH for all the wrong reasons of course, though that movie was actually hilarious in a madcap attempt to be as over-the-top offensive as possible.

All of us, born in the previous century, have enjoyed many a movie, especially the B to Z ones, for the wrong reasons. :DD
