Favorite Vampire Chronicles book?
For me, it's still Interview with the Vampire.
shareThat was her best book. it was beautifully written. She wasn't consistent though, and I found some of her later books disappointing.
shareThey were kinda meh, too me. The Witching Hour and subsequent books are masterpieces!
shareI only stuck with it for like the first three. Interview was easily the best. Vampire Lestat was pretty good as well, I think. It's been so long though I barely remember any details. Got a shit memory, unfortunately.
shareThe first one is the best and deserves to be ranked as a gothic horror classic right up there with Frankenstein and Dracula. The others devolved into cheesy homoerotic soap for horny soccer moms and started feeling very fanfiction-y. She should've quit when she was ahead.
shareI remember liking Lestat too. Don't remember a lot about it, other than it got into his origins. Then I tried reading Queen of the Damned, and yeah, had to put that down. Not for me.
share"Interview", followed by "Lestat"
shareThe Vampire Lestat, followed by Queen of the Damned, it all went downhill after the first three.
shareWhile the first was I guess better written, I much preferred Lestat. That was a properly epic chronicle of a fantastic life. With a more traditional narrative structure.
