If the leaders of Scientology were smart...

...they would say and do nothing when someone leaves. Think about it, if someone exits the "church" and they say nothing, or make a polite comment ("We're sorry to see Mr. X go."), the people leaving would look like they have "sour grapes". But, because they throw a fit and besmirch them, those speaking out get the support of the public. It's just a thought. :)

They can't because it's in their ethics doctrine to go after enemies of the church. That ethics material was personally written by Hubbard so for them to ignore or try to change the policy would invalidate their leader in their minds I assume.

I think the documentary went over your head. Watch it again

There is no maturity to any of the CoS statements. Each press release sounds like a scorned ex who has a lot of secrets to hide. A shrill, man-child that got stood up at prom.

"Ms. X has chosen to leave the church, we hope..." is not the narrative. It's:

"Ms. X is a bully, and a liar who even though we now say they're a horrible person, we never said anything before because well, they weren't on our bad sides, so there! Now that they are, they've been a huge problem for years! Oh the humanity!"

A person hates you because they either wanna be you, see you as a threat, or hate themself

"A person hates you because they either wanna be you, see you as a threat, or hate themself"

This is one of those idiotic things that people believe, mindlessly. I've hated a few people, but never because I saw them as a threat, and certainly not because I wanted to be them. And why on earth would I hate somebody because I hate myself (if I did hate myself, which I don't)? That doesn't even make any sense. I have hated people because they were disgusting, despicable, vile excuses for human beings, and they did bad things to me or other people.

BUT THE COS is ran by crazy people.

reply

You're right. But Miscavige is a bully, so his "church" is a bully.

You can't run a cult that way, even Jehovas Witness knows that. The grave ramifications for anyone who leaves are essential to the business model. You're running an operation that simply can't take that amount of light being shone on it, you need a firewall between you and regular society.

Cult definition:
1 a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.
2 a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others
3 a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.as strange or sinister.

You are asking that people who follow the delusional teachings of a Sci-Fi writer should be smart? Isn't that aiming way to high? I would settle for raising their IQ into double digits as a start.
