If you're engaging in acts that make you feel shameful thereafter, it's your entire physiology hitting you with warning signs of: DO NOT DO THIS.

She was essentially trying to over-compensate for the shame by shamelessly engaging in as much sex as possible to bury those feelings.

It's the equivalent of how we see "Pride" everywhere... where the mainstream attempts to broadcast and promote the lifestyle as much as possible so that people who engage in the lifestyle have pride in their shame until they don't feel shame anymore; but physiologically it doesn't work that way, which is oftentimes why these people are also highly medicated or substance abusers as a way to immure those feelings.

It's very reminiscent of when rape victims go on a sex-spree to compensate for the shame of having been sexually assaulted. They claim they do it to "get their power back".

You mean "sex," aka counterfeit sexual activity. Keep in mind the common sense basics of sexuality corresponding to the sex organs (notice I said sex organs): Tab 'A' fits into Slot 'B.' In other words, the person you're intimate with should fit this criteria or you're probably on the wrong track.
