It's weird to hear a male receiving a "best actress" award...
If we take the liberals at face value, then we should do away with awards for 'best actress' and 'best actor', etc... as they are disqualifying half the people acting in these movies right off the bat. True equality would have just one award given to the single best actor or actress, not one award for each.
Arguably, taking away the awards could be seen as a step forward for equality.
I would agree with that. But it would sove nothing since the awards are mostly political so they would split them 50-50 somehow.
But I would LOVE to see the sports consolidated and to have mixed sports (men vs women). At least in sports the award is based on the outcome ...
Regarding sports: The US national women's soccer team losing 2-5 to FC Dallas U-15 boy's springs to mind. Give it a few years of not winning anything, and women will soon want special treatment again, just to stay competetive with men.
Regarding awards: Yes, awards are mostly pointless nowadays. Acting well is no longer enough.
Only 2-5? The Swedish women's soccer team lost to a Swedish U15 team by like 15-2 or something. It wasn't even a curb-stomp battle, it was a slaughter.
