Spoken like a true poser

That'd make her posing as a pseudo business woman. I write books (without illustrations) and paint graphic novels for a living. When I ePublish on my own I'm the one in control. Unfortunately if I go with a publishing company I don't have that full control over what they do with my work like I would if I self-published. If I don't self-publish I don't feel that makes me a poser in my opinion. Perhaps it makes me stupid though (haha).

I think she's just commenting that she doesn't really concern herself with the business of music, she just wants to make music.

Why would you as an artist not have control over your own work? If I went to a publisher with a finished manuscript they might reject me, but there are thousands of publishers out there that might.

Of course I really don't know what goes on in the graphic novel world, so i'll take your word on that.

In regard to TM and music, not knowing what they're doing with it not only shows immaturity but a lack of concern over her own creation.

What an excellent day for an exorcism

I remember back in the day, the band Tool got in a law suit over their music label because the label was insisting that they release tracks that were less than 3 minutes so they could be put on the radio. After a long legal battle they finally were able to get out of their contract (after going through a lot of money) and started producing under their own label.

What I'm getting at is, for a new band (which TPR are) options are pretty slim. Without being backed by a big label, the press for the band would be limited to youtube probably. Taylor may very well be immature and unconcerned about the business that is screwing with her music, but I'm hoping you consider a new band's options in regards to the restrictions a major label puts on artistic freedom. She could just be picking her battles.

Maybe that makes her a poser of a businesswoman (presumably she's learned a lot about that in the years since you made this post), but how does that make her a poser in general? Sounds like a typical musician to me - I do the same thing. Work a job by day which I support my family with, play music at night and write and record songs and make nothing, but love doing it. :) If I were in her position and had a little money to back me up, I'd quit the day job in a heartbeat to try and actually make something out of my music. I'm happy for her that she's able to live the dream.

She is a poser. However, there is not a popular artist that would make a public statement that is different from the PR teams of the fortune 500 companies.
