Response to the nude scenes thread

Figured I'd make my own thread, since there are a million replies on the other one. There were some complaints about her lack of nudity, or the fact that nude scenes do nothing to further the plot. Well the thing is, nowadays, unless it's a B movie there is rarely nudity anymore (except for raunchy comedies). Back in say, '95, there was nudity in every action movie, now, rarely! But a lot of stuff has toned down, look at T4. The three previous movies had an R rating with lots of blood and swearing. The new one, not so much. I think the reason though that nudity is less and less, well one of the reasons, is because of the prominence of the internet. I remember being like 12 years old and seeing boobs in a movie and being so excited, lol! But now if someone wants to see boobs, type it in google and ya got a billion hits. Why get excited over seeing an actresses boobs for ten seconds in a movie, when you can see someone hotter with bigger boobs doing everything for free. Just my opinion on the subject anyway.

And so only males below the age of 18 look at nudity? I guess that's what you're reasoning, in which case, you seem to be rather misinformed about human sexuality. I don't know what having less money being brought in has to do with anything, unless you're saying from nudity.

As for having Playboy and Penthouse flooding the t*itty market with supply even before the Internet, first, you had to pay for those, and not just Google with the Safe Search off. They were available only at news stands where there was a bit of embarrassment to asking for them. It was either that, or find somebody else's cache.

You're right the "directed audience" has changed, but the "R" rating was around in the 70s, 80s and 90s, so that's not what changed. The demand of the target audience is what has changed. Filmmakers know they can't get that extra 5 percent revenue from putting a nude scene in because the male audience easily fulfills that need elsewhere.

So, now actors can be actors and pornstars can be pornstars.
