I'm guessing his violent behavior has something to do with that?

Oh yeah! He was also reportedly a huge PITA to work with, so nobody's gone out of their way to help him come back. Why would they?

I never understood why he was a "big deal" in the first place.

He was on the fast track but took a massive hit with Speed Racer + the video game. A film that was deemed the new Matrix but failed horribly. Joel Silver had him blacklisted. He struggled to find work for the next two years.

The alcohol and drugs is claimed to be a result of that. But yes, 2015 didn't help.

Joel Silver blacklisted him? Why? Washowsky brothers were more responsible for that fiasco than this guy
