Why does he consistently stay at the top of IMDb's Starmeter?

Since his break out role in Inception in 2010 Tom has been ranked the #1 star on IMDb's Starmeter twice, in 2012 and 2015 (the Bane and Mad Max years).

And every year, week in and week out, he consistently ranks in the top 10 or 20, rarely dropping below 20 and never below 30. Even when he doesn't have a film release or buzz about a project he stays at or near the top.

WHY?

This has always fascinated me as none of his contemporaries come even close to these stats. Fassbender, Hiddleston, Cumberbatch, Cooper, Tatum, Gosling and others usually stay in the top 500, only ranking higher when they have a hit movie. Yet the big box office draws like Cruise, Dicaprio and Depp do consistently rate in the top 50.

What is it about this so called character actor with leading man looks that has millions clicking on his page so consistently? You could argue that 2012 and 2015 everyone wanted to know who the man behind the mask was, but what about the rest of the time?

He is unique in that he hasn't been the lead in a mainstream movie that's a box office hit, isn't a household name, isn't considered A-list, hasn't won an Oscar or Golden Globe, doesn't have a string of film projects lined up like some of his pals - so why do you think he stays at the top all the time?

For those who don't know, the IMDb starmeter ranks stars based on the highest weekly webpage views from millions of unique visitors. http://www.imdb.com/search/name?gender=male,female

Sounds good, I found the first 10 minutes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJwewc_WGvc

I don't have yours or KK's diligence with either actor's work. Hell, I still haven't seen Black Hawk Down or Band of Brothers.

I'm surprised Tom didn't invite Gary to appear in Taboo.
